Kiss Fans Protest Rock Hall of Fame Snub

About 200 Kiss fans protested Saturday in front of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to demand that the band be inducted into the hall.

Fans, some from as far away as California, carried signs and had painted their faces in black-and-white to resemble Kiss band members.

Those participating in the half-hour demonstration were upset that the band, formed more than 30 years ago, has not been admitted, even though it has been eligible since the late 1990s.

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record, according to the museum's Web site.

"Criteria include the influence and significance of the artist's contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll," the site says.

A museum spokesman said it was the first demonstration by fans seeking to have a group inducted.

The foundation that selects inductees is based in New York City, not at the museum.

Kiss just isn't good enough to be in the Hall of Fame. I mean really, Rush, Deep Purple, Yes, Dire Straits, ELP, and Van Halen aren't even in it yet. Let the real musicians in before you let people like Gene Simmons, who have contributed next to nothing to rock and roll, in.

it just comes down to, are they better than some of the bands that are already in the rock n roll hall of fame. Lets look at some of these inductees, shall we?

Sex Pistols-Different genre but Kiss is better.

Was never a big Kiss fan.
But they can't even touch the Talking Heads!!!!
Sid Vicious and Johnny Rotten were the epitomy of Punk during the era of the Pistols.

I would say that KISS deserves to be in. But in my opinion they haven't done nothing worth listening too since I was in High School. That song 'Lick it up' is terrible.

KISS had their last good album in the 70's, everything after ****ed. The only real KISS is with Peter and Ace. Kiss is a joke now. I wouldn't pay to see them now, in fact I wouldn't go if it was free. The original lineup should be inducted. Everything after was bullshit.
