We were teetering on drought conditions. Now the rain. April Showers in May brings June flowers. I'm glad to see some rain. The Lake I live on, biggest one in New Jersey, was 20 inches below normal.
And like L2S said, the lawn looks awesome now. Greener then Herman Munster!

Back to rain, AGAIN!!! I just feel so....bloated. :(

I was going to call in sick, but I just can't do it. Especially after the day at the office yesterday! Unfortunately one of my co-workers experienced a Grand Mal seizure and would you believe that an office full of Dr's didn't know what to do for her. They all panicked. Guess they never rotated through the ER during their residency. The nurses had the forsight to take over, while I dialed 911 immediately. Just one more incentive to find another job.

I hate summer too - always have. Hate the humidity, can't move without feeling clammy and no energy plus I have to cut down on beer as that makes me hotter.

You can always get warm when it's cold but vice versa is more tricky.

GreggFromJoisey
06-28-2006, 11:33 AM
Exactly. Now I dont mind it as much during NON WORK hours but it just ain't good to get into the car at end of day in shirt and tie waiting for the AC to kick in. The way I see it, there's only one good time to sweat and that's not the time :D

AC bill sky High? Not if you run central air. With gas prices the waty they are air conditioning is actually a bargain.

Just have to deal with the heat. When I use to work in midtown Manhatten I'd walk 12 blocks to the office carrying laptiop case and attache. Soaking wet from perspiration. Guard looked at me once and said, 'What did you just climb out of that fountain?'.

Damn! Were just starting the second 1/2 of our softball season. I hate it when my glasses fog and I have to take my cap off and air my head to clear them between each pitch.

Haven't read every post in this thread, but it is time to chime in from Dallas:

As the scorching sun seeped through the trees Wednesday morning, sweat pooled on landscaper Tomas Aquayo’s brow.

Mr. Aquayo has about had it with the triple-digit heat, which was expected to grip North Texas for a ninth consecutive day. The National Weather Service predicted a Wednesday high of 105 degrees.

“I’m ready for it to go away,” Mr. Aquayo said, while working in the yard of a North Dallas home.

Unfortunately, nine days of 100-degree heat is nothing special in North Texas.

Recall the summer of 1980, when 69 days – 42 of them in a row – hit 100 degrees or more. Two of those were a record 113 degrees.

“This pales in comparison,” said Dave Martin, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

So far, 11 days in 2006 have reached the magic 100-degree number. The hottest day of the year was Tuesday, when 107 degrees was recorded at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, the region’s official recording station.

Meteorologists have blamed the heat on an upper-level ridge, and Mr. Martin said there is nothing predictable or cyclical about hot summers.

“It’s summertime. High pressure is sitting on us. That’s it,” he said. “Some summers are hotter than others. It goes up and then back down.”

The summer of 1998 was another hot one, with 56 days of 100-degree heat, 29 of them consecutive, Mr. Martin said. In 2000, 46 days of triple-digit heat were recorded.

On average, North Texans experience 100-degree heat about 16 days a year, arriving as early as March 9 and as late as Oct. 3.

At Park Cities Day School, supervisors have been keeping a close eye on the children, and mostly skipping afternoon play outdoors.

“If it’s over 93 degrees, we usually don’t go outside,” assistant director Tammy Davis said.

Sitting outside a coffee shop in Preston Center with his dog, Bruce Magers matched the torrid temperatures with a drink just as scalding.

“I don’t drink coffee to warm up,” he said. “It’s a morning ritual.”

And at another coffee shop, Sandra Kuoenen said she didn’t mind the heat.

“I sweat it out like everybody else does,” she said.

-----------------------------------

I presume Houston and New Orleans are no better, especially since you guys get more humidity...though 9 consecutive days over 100 does "beat you down".

My last electric bill was over $475...not good.

Well, I got the see THE $528.00 pair of stiletto's that will be gracing shoeluvr's feet tomorrow night. And there WILL be hell to pay if it rains!
AND I saw the whole outfit and it is gorgeous!
I'm texting God right now requesting no rain from 9 PM tomorrow night until 6 AM Thursday morning. I hope he picks up his messages in a timely manner.

$528.00 FOR A PAIR OF SHOES??? For $300.00 more you could rent my apartment for a month!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's way out of my league!!!

i dont know love2 but by the looks of
it, it seems you got some pull up there! :D
Do not underestimate the power of prayer! It has worked for me a lot. And yes, I did say some prayers for Lynn today that she could wear her outfit! It was so together, I would have hated to have to see her change it!
