Which HDTV ???????????

Timmah, I think this one is for you but putting it out there for all you tech gods. We are in the market for a HDTV. Plasma, LED, etc., .... which has the best picture? Looking for a 50". We are debating primarily between the Panasonic 50" Plasma and a Panasonic 50" LED projection among others. I've been told the LED has the best picture quality but takes up a little more room. I've read and re-read www.plasmatvbuyingguide.com. Any other good websites to read?

Usually Plasma and DLP sets have better contrast, or black levels, than LCD's but LCD's are catching up fast. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I have a friend who is a Pioneer rep and he just got the Elite Pro1130 Plasma set and it looks incredible. I have another friend who has a Sony LCD projection TV and it looks just as good! :o

Sony Wega 50" LCD TV...best large screen picture I have ever seen!

Dont buy any plasma TV's until next year because that is when the built in white wash that cleans the images burnt onto your interior plasma screen will be affordable to all consumers. Right now, these specific plasmas are 3 grand. Next year, they will drop in price significantly....

If you play video games, do NOT buy a plasma TV, your TV will be shot in 3 years! If you like video games, get an LCD....

No video games on this set. I'll check out that forum. Is the Sony Wega LCD High Def? I know Tim probably sells the very high end stuff. Don't know if I want to drop $10k but I'd spend $3.5k .

YES, the Sony Wega 50" LCD is HDTV! DEFINITELY take a look at this TV when you visit your local electronics store...I bet you that you will buy it! :D

Sony is off my list. I will never buy another sony product again. They usually work good and do well in the ratings but twice I had a sony product that didn't work properly and twice they never resolved the problem. Sorry, with me they don't get three strikes. :mad:

Once I get settled in, I'll be in this also. I'd say go with an LCD(low profile if possible). It'll be cheaper than plasma and last longer. Also many have told me to go with an HD ready set, not one with the stuff built in. Correct?

Ok, We went with the 50" Sony KDS 50XBR1. Paid $300 too much ($3200 @ Circuit City, thier list was 3500). I don't buy any high end stuff from BB. Hate their return policy. I would have given you our business Tim but the hubby was in a hurry. He was under the impression you only deal with the Pro quality stuff.

The picture is awsome. Now I'll gain 30# not getting off the sofa.
