Macca & I watched it tonight . It was a 2 hour show....
December 8th, will be the 25th Anniversary of Lennon's death.
They played a lot of clips of a Mark David Chapman interview
(over 100 hours of it on tape). The show was well done - just
really pisses you off that this idiot took the life of this musical
legend who the world loved....to become famous.................?
Yeah, Chapman's famous now, all right.
(and he's up for parole again in 2006.)

Anyone else see it?

You think that was bad? A movie is being made now. Many of us have tried to stop it from being made, but it is, so I (and many others) will be asking Beatles fans to boycott it.

After seeing this tripe, I'm even MORE pissed at this low life. I'm even torn between having him die in jail OR......let him out and have a lottery to see how many minutes he'll survive on the outside.

Concerning the boycott...WHERE DO I SIGN UP?

we watched it too. He is much safer in jail then out on the street. Greg says he will kill him himself! This year is 25 years since his murder. We are thinking about going to Strawberry Fields this year and going to the vigil. Has anyone on the board ever gone? It would be so sad.

I too was thinking about going to Strawberry Fields for the Anniversary - I have been there before and visited across the way to the Dakota bldg also I find it very distrubing to be there and to think about what happened to such a great man.

I totally forgot this was on. I wanted to see that.

I"ll never forget the day John Lennon got shot. I was 18 and I my mom had told me the news.

I too caught it the other night. I remember the next day cutting out of school and hopping on the D Train to Central Park West with my friend Mike and standing outside along with everyone else singing and staring helplessly.
We then went to Brew N Burger for lunch and some pitchers and then hit the Ziegfield to catch Paul McCartneys movie which ironically was out at the time. (Wings) Then back to the Dakota and then the train ride home. I'll NEVER forget that day.
While watching Dateline and hearing of the upcoming events, I couldn't help but think how appropriate it might be for Randy to sing in Strawberry Fields doing his full arsenal of Lennon and Beatles tunes.
All you need is LOVE!

I saw Cyndi Lauper do that on a television show a few years back (not even sure what it was for...)...thought the same thing, that Randy could certainly perform an emotional show in Strawberry Fields...

Then again, although we remember Lennon's death, it is not something that we really should "celebrate". What's appropo (sp?) ...not sure.

i go through this w/cobain,
i think it would be more appropriate to celebrate
his birthday, rather than his deathday :(

He'll never make parole. How long do you think he'd last on the outside if he did? He'd have a cap in his ass before he could even blink.

I think they do these shows to remind everyone of what a tragedy it was, and they do it close to parole time, so the criminal does not get out. That is what they've always done when Charles Manson's parole comes up, they show Helter Skelter. I can't beleive it's been 25 years already. I remember like it was yesterday. The only way that it would be ok to do a movie about that paramecium would be if all the proceeds went to John Lennon's kids, or an organization that promotes peace.

John Lennons kids have enough money.

Do it as a reminder for public awareness.

Americas legal system is not always as just as we would
like, but i, like you, believe he wouldnt last long on the streets.

That is the ONLY thing I really agree with Yoko on: celebrate his birth, not the date of his death.
