Did anyone get to see them last night at the House Of Blues New Orleans? It was a great show! They had a ton of songs that I knew and didn't even know it...ya' know? :D Hard to believe that they have been around 12 years already.
Have all 6 of there albums. Purchase em as soon as they come out. Although I think they're most recent 'Youth' is probably the weakest.
Seen them back in 2000 they're 'Dosage' tour and thought they were great.
It was a twinbill with The Cranberries touring 'Bury The Hactchett'.
Thoughly enjoyed the show.

What was funny, I went to the movies a few weeks ago (Star Wars, Kicking & Screaming, & Madagascar), and before the movie, they said on a commercial " Here's a new song from the rock legends collective soul..." I began choking on my popcorn. I guess if you started in the 90's and you are still making music, your a legend. What about the 70's or 80's? They actually played a U2 song from their latest album, I don't recall them saying rock legends. To me U2 is more a legend then collective soul.

Good point. While it is a good thing now for a band to make it over 10 years, there are still bands that have been around for much longer. Collective Soul put on an incredible show with a lot of energy last night, but I don't know about legendary status quite yet.....maybe in another 10 years and more hits. 19 top 40 songs and 7 number 1's pale in comparison to numbers that the Stones, Aerosmith, and U2 have put up.

Welcome to the current batch of clueless morons putting mouth(and fingers) in motion before brain.
While Collective Soul is a great band in their own right, durability throughout the years has to also be considered an accountable measuring stick toward recognizing a band's legendary status.
Sometimes you just have to consider the source. Probably the same guys who voted Steel Monkey by Jethro Tull the Heavy Metal song of the year some years back.

When the "Tull" thing happened, I don't know which emotion was stronger: shock or anger. I was shocked they won the metal award, but at the same time, laughed my a$$ off.

Collective Soul has been one of my favorite bands for years.....they are so original. maybe they aren't 'rock legends', but, they always say that stupid crap in the movie theaters.....cheesy announcements :p

maybe they aren't 'rock legends'
That term is a very subjective one. Who is to say who is a rock legend or not? What is the criteria? It certainly isn't longevity. If that was the case, C.S. would be a shoe-in because they have been around much longer than the Beatles were. I think the Beatles and Zeppelin define the words "rock legends", but I know others who do not. It's all opinion.
I will say this though. After seeing C.S. in concert and realizing that I knew the entire set list except for maybe 3 songs (mind you, I don't own a single CD of theirs), they are much closer to legends than I ever thought.

They are in Atlantic City tomorrow night. I acted too late. The good seats are already gone (new boardmember/steller musician/impressionist deluxe  OURSOOO fires up the Eagles/ Already Gone
Yeah, I seen the advertisement. But if I'm to go they should get there butts a little closer. Atlantic City is a 3+ hour ride. If I were to do the trip I'd get overnight hotel and do some gambling too.
