I know that technically Zebra are not from New York, but are treated as such. Which raises the question anyway: who, out of the choices here, is the better NY group?
I know there are many others, but I narrowed it down to what I like. Do you agree?

The Bands listed are more like Long Island. NYC RnR or whats left of it would bring to mind 70's CBGB's Ramones , The NY Dolls, Lou Reed , and counless other Bloaks, lets not forget the Dead Boys originaly from Michigan Jack Douglas produced them around the same time as Zebra. In fact on Slow Down I swear Randy sounds like Stiv Bators singing "lunch" . Jack Douglas had to have brought that out of Randy.

Isn't White Lion from that area?
If not, gotta go with KISS!

White Lion is from Brooklyn...so yes they are a NY band...
Twisted Sister gets my vote out of the above 4, but Dream Theater are a NY band and deserve to be mentioned on this poll too.

The Velvet Underground, Blondie and the Ramones are also pretty good candidates....

If you want to check out some lesser know NY bands that have kicked ass, try to find CDs by Hunk and/or Thin Lizard Dawn. Great hard rock/power pop music. Both bands are now defunct but put out albums in the 90s.

I knew B.O.C. were from Long Island, and the other two I wasn't positive on, but I swore all members of KISS were from the five boroughs.

Check out the early 1990's video "The Stoned Age" to see a TRUE BOC fan in action. It's really one of those crappy teenage exploitation flicks, but it's so dumb it's funny!

We may have to sort this out by era. I also want anyone who cares to know In 1980-1 and 92 I took guitar lessons from the Legendary Danny Kalb ( of the Bules Project ) and then took ragtime lessons for years with the legendary Dave Van Ronk who taught Danny, Bob Dylan , and Jonni Mitchel how to chicken pick.
I'm the first to vote for Riot. I love those early Riot albums (Fire Down Under, Restless Breed). Great stuff. It was haed not to vote for BOC though.

What about the Good Rats? They're way better than Kiss or Twisted Sister. Though, BOC trumps all.
