I've posted in the past about my guitar teacher's NJ band, Far Cry. (the guys on my left and right in the avatar). Friday evening , at their show at Bello's in Sayreville, NJ a pleasant surprise.
There was a tall , scrawny looking dude sitting at the bar with his girlfriend. Very quiet guy, twirling a drumstick. No one knew who he was or paid much attention to him.... I'm thinking "geez, you see all kinds here.." Then, my teacher Karl says "I'm going to bring up an old friend of mine, Jerry to hit the skins on the next couple tunes"
They fire up awesome renditions of Voodoo Child and King by King's X. Then Karl says, "thank you very much. That was Jerry Gaskill of King's X on the drums"!!!! WOW THEN everyone was coming up to the guy!
I talked to him for a few minutes, very nice, not egotistical at all for a musician of that caliber. Later!
