Heh....5 times a day. Child's play!!! I've had Crohn's disease since I was 17. I've gone 5 times today already.....and it's only 5 p.m. I have a few more times to go before the day is out. I stock TP in my house like it's going out of style. Bought a 36 roll pack in late December, and have 3 rolls left now. I'm getting all paranoid, and have to go to BJ's warehouse tomorrow to stock up again. I only feel safe when there are about 20 rolls in the house!!!

Yo yo yo, werd up, my fellow Crohny!!!!!!! It's weird, it's the kind of thing you never hear about until you get it, then it seems everyone you know knows soeone that has it. Funny how the more doctors learn about it, they still don't really know that much. I went to a seminar at UConn Health Center about 10 years ago with my sister (she has it too), and talked to a doctor afterward about it. He claimed it could be caused by this or that, but was NOT hereditary, even though other doctors suspected it might or could be. I'm from a mixed family. My mom and dad were both widowed young with 3 kids each, then had me and my sister. We're the only 2 with it. We told this to the doctor that said it can't be hereditary, and had a look on his face like we dropped a Mack truck engine on his foot. Hmmm, maybe time to rethink that theory. Not sure if I ever posted the coincidences between my sister and me with our Crohn's on here before. Kinda weird, but I'll save that for another time. Right now I have to go shovel the driveway so I can get to the store for my TP!!!!!

yeah I hear ya EVHFV, I always heard it was heriditary, then it wasnt, so I dont know who to believe.....my mom's side of the family has a history of all different stomach problems, I unfortunately got hit with the worst one...such is life I suppose! I go thru very long streaks of not feeling any pain, then all of the sudden I get a bad streak and I am a walking disaster! But overall, I have to come deal with this the last 6 years and just have to be careful with what I eat...

Yeah, I'd definitely say it's hereditary!!! Too much proof just with my own personal experience that tells me so. I usually don't feel pain, although I did have a bout just last week. I've had worse though. Ever have surgery for it? I did, 10 years ago. Boy was I a mess inside. It's just hard to do stuff and go places since no matter how I try to prepare, you can't stop it, and have to run to the bathroom at a moments' notice at any time....MANY times. So, I usually just wimp out and stay home. Oh yeah, and public bathrooms being what they are, most times I opt to be like a bear and shit in the woods. Been there MANY times. Always have wiping material in the vehicle. It's a must!!!!

never had surgery on it, its hasnt acted up on me that bad, so hopefully I dont have to go thru with that...I was in the hospital for 5 days about 3 months after I was first diagnosed 5 years ago but didnt have to go back into the hospital since. I had severe abdominal pain so I was admitted into the hospital. Like you, I always have my moments at the worst of times...at work, while driving, after eating dinner, etc....its too bad there is no cure and probably never will be, I would love to get rid of this that is for sure!!!

I had surgery for it twice (the first time being minor). In all honesty, the surgeries were the best parts of the ordeals, and the hospital stays were very good. The bad part is, they don't want to operate until all other courses are taken and/or you're so far along that medication or anything can't keep it under control anymore. All the pain and everything you go through up to that point, that's the worst of it all. A week in the hospital after all that, and not having to feel that pain anymore and just being able to do nothing but rest, is amazing. The pain you do feel is only from the surgery itself, which is a different kind of pain, and hardly at all anything to compare to the pain before. I'd go through the surgery again in a heartbeat if I had to. I could be better about what I eat. It's tough when anything "good" for you is actually "bad" for you. I do keep away from the biggest things that cause the biggest problems. Fruits and veggies, nuts, and corn. I haven't had popcorn since December '92. I miss that alot. That, and peanut M&Ms.
