1982 - American Music Awards
AC/DC nominated for Best Rock Band
the award goes to.................
Air Supply!
I also kinda remember an awards show - Ted Nugent was the presenter.
The award was for best Rock Band or Guitar Performance or something like that.
The nominees were Van Halen, The Cars, Rick Springfield, among others.
Ted Nugent opened the envelope and said "I can't do this, man" and walked off the effin stage...the winner was Rick Springfield!!!!
I wish I could remember the exact venue - I remember laughing my ass off after the shock wore off.

That is an excellent idea. It would be AWESOME!!! We would have to get there kind of early to claim a spot. The lakefront sure has changed, as has the music scene and everything else, but if we get there early and have enough people we could rock the place out like the old days....

What we should do is have a party and have Randy perform out there. People may stop by and hear his music and who know's, we may make some new friends. We could probably rent out a little spot and do a bbq or something, have VIP passes for everyone who donates money to buy all the stuff. Set up some volleyball nets, play some softball. You would die if you got a bad scratch in an LP.

Jumping rope ( I was an expert at it, now, after having 3 kids I just wet my pants when I jump rope. How sad is that?)

Remember real cars?? real style. I went to the auto show with Bobby G and his mini G, and I saw an old (I beleive early 70's) El Camino. I had a 77 my senior year in 199o (something) and it was rusted out as hell, engine never siezed up, no oil leakes, only repairs ever needed were alternator and brake callipers. Even I could, ( a17 yr old girl) work on the damn thing! It had no exhaust from the y-pipe back, loud and fast, posse rear, the poor body gave out because I was jumpin tracks, put the seat through the floor boards. LOL The engine and rear-end are still alive to day in an old classmates car ( the fourth vehicle he installed them in since the buriel of my camino in 1993. :(
All the new cars look like neon injection molded over-priced piles of crap.

Cars......yep, I wish I had been more "mechanically inclined" when growing up. To this day, my favorite "retro" car was a Mustang circa 1964-66. After seeing the *new* ones(I know...the body is modeled after the 67-68), it made me want one even more. If I had the money(and could find a suitable body for restoration), the first thing I'd have to do is put the false trunk in the puppy cause in the original, the gas tank was part of the trunk! Damn unleadded gas. Ruined muscle cars!

French Quarter for a couple of years & played in Fat City frequently.

Jim Dandy & Black Oak Arkansas played at the Gretna Heritage Fest
a couple of years ago and I dragged Macca there with me to see them.
I was in the front row singing the words to nearly every song along

I got him to autograph an old photo I had taken of him in the 70's.

WRNO Worldwide. I think the first attempt to go satellite. Joe Costello (RIP) took RNO shortwave but he also bought space on a sat ('81). One of only three stations in the US to go worldwide. He thought he could market it to the military but had a problem getting receiving hardware built. Here we are 25 years later and sat radio is just now getting afforable with good equipment. Joe was a visionary. Unfortunately Joe passed away broke and insane in an institution.
