Ok this place made Chee Weez b4 Frito Lay: http://www.elmercandy.com/history.htm
"Unfortunately, this caused Elmer's to discontinue manufacture of local favorites like "Chee Weez", "Mint Bubblets", and "Coconut Haystacks". These products are still remembered with reverence in the local area."
I have never seen Chee Weez myself but my mom calls Cheetos Chee Weez so I know that a lot of people call them that.
What's the history on Cheese Doodles?
Man, I'm bored waiting on servers to reboot while working up here to be starting a thread on Chee Weez.
When I have to take a WEEZ I head for the Mens Room.

"Doodle Dust"
My wife is from Jersey, and I went to visit her folks about 8 years ago. They can tell that you are a tourists, if you open a can of Coke, and drink it straight from the can. My wife says, they use a straw, when drinking from a can.

orange stuff that you cant rub on your shirt.
Zgirl, It's called "Cheetle", the orange goo that sticks to your fingers. Do ya remember what a "tile comet" is? The piece of toilet paper that sometimes sticks to the bottom of your shoe as you leave the restrooms.
They're sniglets...

haha ZGirl had me calling them Yoodles too, until I saw the box that Sue gave me (thank you Sue!) and realized it wasn't Yoodle. I think she just made it rhyme with Doodle from Cheese D.
Doodle = Yoodle
I'm about to finish off the last black and white right now in this boring hotel cause everything out there is iced up so I'm trapped! Those are some great cookies BTW!
You're welcome Big Sun, glad you liked them! Those were just some of the "NewYawk things" you got to sample this trip...wait until ya'll come back!! I wish you and Zgirl had the chance to tell your "stories" at the diner. You had me and Zchik in hysterics up in CT. How long did the pizza and garlic knots last, and were they still tasty?

whether it's down here or up 'dere, smell your fingers after you've been eating cheetos for awhile and only one thing comes to mind...
No SAV-A-CENTERS up here that I know of? But then we also don't have Piggly Wigglys, Win Dixies, Albertsons or any other named stores like them.
These businesses are all regional. Sort of like you can find CVS and Eckerd drug stores outside of NYC but in the city its only Duane Reids.
So well just have to look elsewhere for CHEE WEEZIES.

I think Dina goes to Super Wal Mart?
I didn't know they still made Chee Weez, on that Elmer web site I thought it said they were discontinued. I really don't eat any of that stuff too much but from what I remembered the Cheese Doodles ROCKED!

Hey,
I grew up in brooklyn and live jersey now and i always drink my soda from the can, no straw here, so i dont know about that tourist stuff. Also, how about YOO HOO the chocolate energy drink. I had a friend in from Chicago who had never even heard of it. I couldn't believe YOO HOO wasnt nation wide. Also my puppies paws smell just like cheeze doodles

Thank You! I munched down on all the pizza stuff on Sun & Mon when ZGirl went home, even cold in the fridge it was still good.
Yeah, Sue you were laughing so hard in the hotel room that you started "wheezeling" <wheezing -to those who don't know>. :)

Is that when you are eating Chez Puffs and someone makes you laugh, and you start spitting little pieces out of your nose? Nasty huh? Then when you blow your nose, and the Orange dust goes everywhere.
What, this is not "Weezleling"..............oh, my bad!

OK ZGirl... since you've had both our NY Cheese Doodles and your LA Chee Weez, is there really any difference? And, which tastes better?

Bring Randy some Black & Whites too to remind him of what they are! :-)

Big Sun ... that was just a "taste" of our fine cuisine! I told Zgirl I'd send you guys a "care package." One of you needs to PM/email me your address again. Hey, don't forget the garlic knots. Betcha don't get them down in Weeziana. I'll bring some black & whites to Randy when we celebrate his birthday on 2/26 @ The Village Pub.

Big Sun, you ought to send them a King Cake.
What's a black and white? Bayougirl ... it's a really tasty cookie we have here in NY. It's a moist cookie that has chocolate frosting on one half, vanilla on the other. When Zgirl & Big Sun spent some time with us on Long Island we were trying to find foods that would be "northern" and "southern." I sent them home with black & whites .. I think they liked em'.

Ya know, I don't know what's a really good King Cake these days (I used to only eat McKenzie's & they have been gone for a couple of years now) BUT ZGirl is sending something else, a surpise this afternoon actually. Look out Sue! I know we both try to drink water & eat right but what's she's sending is highly bad for ya but tastes really good.
It's a bit of thanks for your oustanding NY hospitality that we still rave about to our friends down here! :)

As soon as we get out from under all this snow, I'll be going out to the supermarket to get the "goods" for your care package. If I could send ya some pizza and garlic knots, I would ...but that's something you have to have fresh-in NY.

The garlic knots taste kinda like really good garlic bread, really soaked with flavor. I'm not good describing food, but they are really munchable!
I have never seen CheeWeez, I think they play 80's rock to Creed?

Big Sun,
Next time they play at Boomtown (which is usually once a month) You and Zebragirl should meet me out there.

Sammie!
Ok, I saw what "Cheetle" is, but was the doodle like a big, warm pastry or closer to cheetos? (reason being is one of my friends worked in New York years ago and was trying to describe something he liked and I asked him if it was a cheese doodle. He couldn't remember)

It's like Chee Weez, like Cheezy Poofs :)
Somebody put up a picture of a massive porno sized Cheese Doodle a couple of weeks ago! http://www.cnn.com/2003/TECH/internet/03/05/offbeat.big.cheeto/index.html
