The Best James Bond

With the "Bond Girls" thread in the Non-Zebra Forum going strong, I thought I would ask about the James Bond character. Who played him the best?

Vote on the best Bond, then put in text the order of which ones you liked the best.



*I did not include Barry Nelson (Casino Royale (TV)) or David Niven (Casino Royale) because they were not official James Bond movies.*

Here is my order:

1. Sean Connery
2. Roger Moore
3. Pierce Brosnan
4. George Lazenby
5. Timothy Dalton



Here's a little bit of trivia. Did you know that Roger Moore was the first choice for playing James Bond? He had contractual obligations that prevented him from getting the part, so Sean Connery was chosen. The rest...as they say...is history!

Glad to see you are up on your "Bond" trivia Scott, he was doing "The Saint" at the time. It would have been REAL interesting how the early movies would have done if Moore was Bond before Connery.

Wish I could have driven a fully loaded Aston Martin. Can you imagine the fun??:D

Lazenby did the one movie probably cause he was a "stop gap" because Sean Connery didn't want to do Bond movies anymore....despite coming back for "You Only Live Twice". Gotta say, Your Majesty's Secret Service is the WORST Bond movie.

i came on board during the Moore times so ill put him 1st only because thats what i know the best, Sean 2nd pierce 3rd...

Most true Bond fans would go with Sean Connery as their first choice. I happened to really like the way Pierce Brosnan did the character as well. One funny thing that I enjoyed about Pierece's Bond flics was that I got to enjoy them with my son who first played the "Goldeneye" Nintendo game only to see the movie AFTER. He now being 11, we've got to enjoy 4 movies with Pierce and all the special effects and I've naturally turned him onto some of the other ones.
A footnote....he really enjoys catching the references that Mike Meyers used in the Austin Powers movies when watching some of the "older" Bond movies.

One other note.....
Connery and Moore also were playing the character in movies based on the writings of the creator, Ian Fleming.
The recent flics are just that....movie scripts. NO?

How about David Niven in 1967's "Casino Royale?"

There were also a lot of 007s in the film played by Peter Sellers & Terence Cooper with female versions played by Daliah Lavi & Ursula Andress!
