If you missed the AMA's, BON JOVI won an acheivement award. Originally, I was going to give my opinion later in the thread, but i might as well do it now. Thr recent songs aren't doing it for me. All the musicians are great players/singers. The newer songs just don't hit the mark. Some of the songs and/or choruses sound similar. It's almost like they are forcing songs and have lost that hunger. I did see them in the beginning. They opened for RATT, and in my opinion, they sounded better than ratt. I'm not one of those people who always says "I like the early stuff", but in bon jovi's case, it's true. I do like to see bands progress and change, and lighten up even. It's not about losing their hard edge either, because i enjoy softer music also. Wouldn't it be nice if these bands could write tunes like they were hungry? It does seem like a common problem. These big bands have some great early stuff, then they get loads of money, and then the songs don't quite have the same vigor and meaning.

Yes on the awards show they played an old song and then previewed a new one. The old one was so much better I thought. New one just didn't grab me.

I'm just a "hair band" lover leftover from the 80's - but not all hair bands! At least not the ones that who wore make-up better than me!

I like some of the hair bands too...Cinderella, Ratt, Dokken (if you want to call them that) and a few others...along with countless other metal, hard rock, and classic rock bands...but Bon Jovi was a band I never got into...I use to have rivalries with their fans in the 80's....

Check out the thread on Another Internet Radio site. All 80's - 90's metal/hair rock. They just played Twisted Sister, lol. I have to be in the mood. But they have Zebra in their catalog so ....

How bout a combined band like Pantera meets Bon Jovi, maybe they could call it Pan Jovi! or Bon Tallica! eew this is fun...
Cinda Jovi,, Bon Dokken,, (think of the guitar riffs) Bon Leapard
(think of Joe's vocals on any Jovi song) Twisted Jovi " What do you want to do with your life??" "I wanna rock jovi!" Led (I won't go there!!):D

Sounds interesting, this could be a decent tribute/original band if someone can put your ideas to music....

I thought he ****ed from the start, I think he ****s now.

Sorry but you asked for our thoughts. These are just mine. I think him and Bruce Springsteen are way overrated. I'll let their initials speak for themselves.

Spoken like a true Jersey Boy.

Don't hate the guy. Just think he's way overrated.
I use to go work with a guy who went to high school with him. When I asked he actually said the guy is a jerk off. Thinks he's a chicks guy and hot shot and totally full of himself.
That wasn't my opinion because I never met him. But I never had the urge to purchase any of his vinyl.

Puchase vinyl! lol! Damn, now I'm showing my age.

mark, that never occurred to me > B.J. & B.S. - whew too funny. I wish musicians would refrain from politics. damn, I realize that politics is a huge part of society and life, but i don't have to like it when artists get involved; regardless of whether i agree with their stance.

Right on. And I think the Dixie Chicks learned their lesson on expressing their view of politics.

I always thought they were so-so, not great.

But Richie Sambora is the ultimate rip-off artist. Why do I say that? There is an awesome NJ guitar player, Stan Steele, who
Richie stole the entire look from. The boots, the hair, the Stratocaster. And Stan never got his due. To this day, he's a one man show, plays bars , playing Zeppelin, Jimi, Santana mostly.
Great vocalist too. You'd think you were hearing Robert Plant
And he was the lead guitarist for Jon's cousin Jodi Bongiovi(their original spelling of their name).
Jody had a decent debut CD, but couldnt live up to Jon's bubble gum pop stuff.....
