Saturday & Sunday (11/13 & 14) is the FALL FESTIVAL
at Destrehan Plantation on River Road in Destrehan.

I spent the day there today(Saturday). It's one of my
favorite Louisiana festivals. There were lots of great
arts & crafts, antiques & collectibles, & great food, too!
Check it out on Sunday, if you like that sort of thing.

Tonight Macca & I went to the Orpheum for a symphony show.
Not an ordinary symphony show - The show was called
"Classical Mystery Tour". The BEATLES band "Twist & Shout"
did an all BEATLES show backed by the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. It was an awesome experience!

Now what will we do tomorrow????

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Hey Zebra buds, when
are we gonna get together again?

The show last night was great.....NICE to hear Day In The Life, Walrus(and others) with a full blown orchestra. Only downer was the a$$holes to the right of me running their mouth(very loud) while Bruce Spizer was giving his presentation.

Bruce Spizer (for those who may not know) is a local
New Orleans attorney who is quite an authority on
the Beatles. He has a huge Beatles memorabilia collection
and has written about 6 books (so far) on the Beatles.
He gave a short & very interesting presentation last
night before the symphony show with slides and music clips.

Tomorrow 11/20/04 we will be celebrating my nephew's
7th birthday. He is so excited! His birthday isn't for
another 3 weeks, but we're having it while my
sister (his Mom) is still at home. She's going back
into the hospital for several weeks again starting on Monday.
She'll miss Thanksgiving, but hopefully she'll be home for
Christmas....

Sunday 11/21/04 - both of my sisters and myself and two
childhood friends, are going out to dinner and the
Bette Midler concert. GIRLS NIGHT OUT !!!
(Not exactly a rock show - but Bette is fun....)

What is everyone else up to this weekend?

I'll fill you in on Oliver after I tell ya about our Rock N Bowl experience last night. We decided to go here hear Rockin Dopsie, Jr. Got there had a drink, then we notice some very well dressed people walking in the door, one had a Bette Midler crew jacket on. We both looked at each other and say...NO WAY! Well, no sooner did we say that we see Bette walking through the crowd! She was dressed very casual, no makeup, glasses, hair pulled back and my goodness, she is so TINY! We recongized her right away but everyone else in that place did not! She bowled a couple of times (she needs to stick to singing...LOL!), she partied with her crew, listened to Dopsie, then they all left. What a night! :)

Boudin,
That is soooooooooo cool! Did you talk to her or anything?
What a nice surprise for you at the Rock-N-Bowl!

Her show was incredible! It was like going to a Broadway or Vegas variety show. The sets, costumes, dance, songs, the comedy ,etc. (SHE IS SO FUNNY!) She entered the stage from the ceiling riding a carousel horse on wires.... Had a great time!

No, we did not talk to her or take pictures. She was staying very netural and trying not to be noticed. So, we respected that. We did get very close while she was near the stage listening to Dopsie. She is so TINY! She was having a good time. I wish we could have seen her show. Glad to hear she rocked the place. Oliver was fantastic! The talent was amazing, the costumes and set were beautiful. The girl that played Nancy sang like a bird. She sent chills with her voice. A great weekend without a doubt. :)

How cool it was that you noticed Bette and noone else did...
It was very decent and respectful of you to honor her privacy
that night. Her show was amazing - a big production.

Glad you enjoyed Oliver and had a great weekend!
Hope to see you guys again soon!

Macca & I went to see Kraig Parker, an ELVIS impersonator
at Boomtown Casino (across the river) last night. It was
quite entertaining.

I thought that it was a little much the way some of the
ladies in the audience behaved, though. They acted as if it was really Elvis up there on the stage. They stood in line at the edge of the stage with hankies to blot the
sweat off his face, to give & receive kisses, etc. The
show was good, but Westbank ladies - this was NOT Elvis!
ELVIS has left the planet!

There are two free "Elvis" shows again tonight and Sunday.
The guy was good....

I looked over to Karen....and to her right....some woman in an Elvis shirt was actually crying. Jeesh...wonder what she would have done if the REAL EP was on stage? Looks like him......kinda....sounds like him.....kinda...is him? BE REAL.

My brother had his annual bonfire at his houseboat in Bayou Benoit Saturday. He gathers wood all year round for this shing-dig. You could see the fire from everywhere! Things were going great until my dad slipped and sprined his knee and refused to go to the hospital to get it checked out..... hardhead! Then went to a bar to listen to a friend of mine sing...he is pretty good. The rest of the weekend was dedicated to recouping from Thanksgiving...
