From Melodicrock.com

Rush are recording a new live DVD from the Vapor Trails tour that is expected to be released this coming US spring. The DVD was filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in front of 50, 000 plus fans.

Makes up for the Different Stages DVD that never materialized.

Hmm, funny. Rush just played in CT at the Mohegan Sun Casino Arena in December and they said all over the radio that THAT show was shot for an upcoming DVD release. We'll just have to wait and see what footage gets used where, if at all!!!

I'd want to see Exit Stage Left on DVD! Now that would be COOL! I have an old VHS tape of an hour from it that I taped from USA's Night Flight.

Geddy Lee & Alex Lifeson on Xanadu both playing double necks, yes!

Geddy Lee plays a Rickenbacker double neck during Xanadu. It has a 4 string bass and a 12 string guitar. The funny thing is, he only plays the guitar side for one chord during the ending. :)

Those were the days!

Actually, Geddy uses the 12 string neck for a lot of the ending, while playing bass pedals....but you never see him....you have to listen to it. Also, Exit...Stage Left IS on dvd....out of Japan, though. I'm not sure if it's compatible with our dvd players...but if it is.....that would rule!!!

I never had Exit... on LP or CD as I do not like the mix so I never noticed exactly what Geddy Lee did on Xanadu (and was only about 10 yrs old for that tour so I didn't make it either).

My copy taped from Night Flight is mono and looks like crap plus the TV I last used to view it on was mono with a horrible tiny speaker.

I was thinking about getting my hands on the overseas Exit DVD but I do not have a region hack for my DVD player.

Maybe they will release it on DVD one day! There are so many cool things that we need to have released on DVD as a lot of quality DVD is really missing.

Some cool things have come out more recently however so hopefully the trend will continue.

Some awesome DVD's are:
-Queen 16:9 DTS We Will Rock You (although since it's from The Game tour the performance is lame compared to Live Killers but the DVD looks & sounds awesome HDTV)

-Queen Greatest Hits, this new DVD is also all 16:9 and has new 5.1 mixes, the 2cnd DVD is a must to see as you get to go through the original master tape of Boh. Rhap. with Brian May track by track!

Roger Waters 16:9 5.1 Dolby In The Flesh, the performance is way better than I expected (Waters is acutually really enjoying himself and mouting along to even the Gilmour lyrics and sings Time & Wish You....!), much cooler than the post Waters Floyd shows IMHO, the mix is awesome and the video was shot in HD and with a prog scan 16:9 TV looks about as good as current DVD can be, plus there is a half hour documentary showing rehearsals for the shows

Anyone know any other really good DVD's?

Operation Live Crime is prob cool but it's full frame.

I'm sure the new Rush will be 16:9 and have a DTS mix which should be cool.

I have the Exit Stage Left concert video on an old Lazer Disc. Remember those, they were the size of an LP record? My player has long since crapped out, so I haven't watched it in a while - but I remember it was very good. Geddy did play the 12 string for a good bit of the end of the song. You can clearly hear the clean, chorus'd 12 string on the E/F#add/B/A progression while Alex solos over it. Geddy also plays the final melodic line at the very end right before the pause-& ending chord. Man, those were the days - big drum kits and doubleneck guitars. Rush of that era probably had the biggest effect on me musically of anybody. And I have the big Artstar 11 pc drum set and a white (not cherry) Gibson doubleneck to prove it. Now, has anybody got a 12 string/Bass doubleneck Rick in black they want to sell?? Ha!ha!

I got the Grace Under Pressure Tour on Laserdisc. I had a friend that special ordered it before it went out of print. I don't own a Laserdisc player, but have seen the concert. One day, I will get one and try and record it to a DVD, that will be cool. I also have The Big Money on CD Video. Again, the only way to play it, is with a Laserdisc player.
