GRUNGE!!!
The alternative rock that supposedly destroyed melodic/hair metal of the 80's. These bands/artists came south from their homes in the Northwest wearing flannel and shorts and running rough-shod over the music scene like the Vikings of yore. Which one of these groups is the greatest grungers of all?

None. There is no such thing as a "great" grunge band.
...oops...I guess I have to pick one, huh?
Alice in Chains

A group most likely forgotten is Mother Love Bone. Tragic what happened to the singer (believe his name was Andrew Wood). Temple of the Dog is in his memory.

Surprised ronbo did not list them. I know he has one or two of their CDs.

Alice in Chains' Dirt is not only one of the best grunge CD's, but it is definitely 1 of the best CD's to come out of the 1990's and is easily in my top 10 of all time favorite albums.

The remnants of Mother Love Bone became Pearl Jam, so I decided to leave them off (limited amount of choices you know). Like MLB a lot too....

Oh well, he's an old fart and changes styles a hell of a lot more than he does his flannel shirt ;) You're right, he could be on the list. Hey, hey, my, my - Rock-N-Roll will never die! (I hope he's right....)

Some of these guys rocked, but none could touch Chris Cornell's vocals. He was arguably the last great rock singer. Since then, no one can carry a note. Even Cornell can't do it anymore (I think he blew his vocal chords out during the Soundgarden years).

I voted for Nirvana - Loved Alice in Chains as well - But how about the Stone Temple Pilots??? Would they be considered grunge even tho they didn't come from Seattle?

Tough choosing between AIC & Nirvana, but AIC won for me.
Never really liked grunge. If I had to pick it would be Soundgarden with a slight edge over AIC.

That was tough, I love Chris Cornell's voice better but AIC rocked harder. I voted the same. It's now a tie between AIC and PJ.
