They've been mentioned here from time to time, including from myself. I've loved them since I discovered them (Tell No Tales album) and have just about everything they've put out, with the exception of the import live cds. I even got their first Norwegian sung album on cd. I don't have the newest cd yet, since I just can't find it around here. Looks like the only way I'll get it is by ordering it. I've downloaded the couple new songs from their website though, and those are real good. Actually, Lonely Nights might be one of their best songs ever.

I have everything this band has done on CD as well as great video.
TNT is in my mind a modernday journey with a 10 time better singer.

Well Mr. Jeff.....you've come to the right place.
We've discussed TNT quite often here. I also have everything they've put out....including the new one.
It may just be their best ever. I LOVE it.
I couldn't agree more about Ronnie and Tony.

I am also on the TNT message board. It's not nearly as active as this one. There are some USA members on there, but there are also a TON of other country members there.

I know that Tim (OU812) and I are BIG TNT fans.
Welcome.

:D

p.s. - Jeff, Are you also a Y&T fan?

A band I played in back in the '80's used to cover a couple of TNT songs. Does that make me a fan? Oh Hell Yeah!!!!!!

Anyone remember or still like KEEL?

Sounds like we were cut from the same cloth....:)

As you can see, I would be a "Saint" fan also.

John Bush is my absolute favorite singer.

Hey Jeff.....

Since we obviously have the same taste in music (Zebra, TNT, Y&T, Armored Saint,......)

Have you heard any of some of my other (lesser known) favorite bands from the 80's????

Black N Blue
Icon
Fates Warning
Kick Axe
Loudness
Mama's Boys
Manowar
Malice
Lizzy Borden

...and obviously some of the more popular ones....

Accept
Savatage
Tesla
Wasp

I've got all of those on vinyl.
That's just about all they had back then. Cassettes were just coming on the scene.

I can't believe your wife has some Mama's Boys. I've never found anyone else that even knows who they are.

Are you sure it's the right band?

There was a black singer that headed up a band called Mamas Boys...or maybe it was Mamas Boyz.

Anyway, the Mama's Boys that I'm referring to was a band comprised of 3 brothers from Ireland. I have 5 of their albums on vinyl. Never got popular but I thought they were awesome.

That is pretty cool if she has them.

...and yes....Loudness kicks major ass.
Akira Takasaki is a very unique guitar player with awesome riffs.

Yeah we're talking about the same Mamma's Boys. I've never sat and listened to the album but I guess I should now.

I wish I knew what happened to mt Loudness cassettes. I had like the first 3 , then when I moved a whole box of them got stolen. What a pisser. My older brother may still have some of them.

Early WASP is another fav.

Delirious Nomad

Yes. They do very well in their homeland of Sweden and Norway.
They do VERY well in Japan, too.
If you're a TNT fan, you MUST get the new one. It will not disappoint. I think it just may be my favorite. It is as good, if not better, than their older stuff.
I saw the interview on MetalSludge.
I love those 20 questions. 20 questions with Marty Friedman and Jenna Jameson stand out for me.

Black N Blue was awesome. I hear rumours of a reunion.

Loudness was/is great. They are actually still putting out new music. I have all their stuff from the beginning (singing in Japanese) up to "Hurricane Eyes" in 1987.

I saw Rough Cutt in concert many years back. I had one of their cassettes, but I haven't seen it in years.

Yeah...I figured that, but even as good as Tommy was while he was there, his playing in Black N Blue was not very unique (in my opinion). I think he can be replaced fairly easily.
As long as Jamie St. James is singing, I think they will be fine.
....in my opinion.

EZO is Japanese.
I liked them, but don't have any of their stuff.

So if Jamie is singing for Warrant, who is singing on the new Black N Blue?....still Jamie, but just for the reunion? (kinda like John Bush still recording with Armored Saint while in Anthrax?)

I do like Westworld because I like Tony, but Ronnie is what REALLY draws me to TNT.

Man, all these bands listed here, I remember them all. I actually saw a couple videos on MTV from Mamas Boys. They did a cover of Mama Weer All Crazee Now, but it was a year after Quiet Riot hit it big with that one, and it never caught on for them. I just recently finished out my Keel collection, getting all of their albums on cd. Final Frontier was going on eBay about a year ago for about 50-75 bucks. I haven't checked that lately. Frank Aresti from Fates Warning actually works at my work's parent company (Kaman Music). I've seen him a couple times, aside from running into him at a club gig for a local band here about 10 years ago. A lot of people from these 80's bands and more either never left music, or are actually getting back into it. Members of Hurricane are still going. Kingdom Come are still around, although only touring overseas now, and only 1 original member for years now. I just saw WASP a couple weeks ago. No more crotch sparks or blood-filled skull, but a great show nonetheless. I'm waiting for the Scorpions to hit the States again. Oh yeah, the new Dokken is great. Right up there with Erase The Slate, and better than anything with George Lynch in the 90's. Saw them a month ago. Another great show. Lotsa great talent from those days!!!!

Actually, I believe the Mama's Boys version came out first. They both came out in 1984. I remember hearing their version on the radio...then, shortly after that, Quiet Riot released their second album and it shot right to the top. Mama's Boys disappeared after that.
It's a shame, too, because I thought the Mama's Boys version kicked Quiet Riot's ass.

I believe Quiet Riot's version came out first. Their first albumm was out in '83. That was the year we got cable, and MTV. Before the year was out, that video was on all the time. Unless the song was released as a single right at the beginning of '84, but I seem to remember it being before that. Plus, QR's second album came out later in '84 around early summertime. So, at the very least, Noize had come out as a single by then and run it's course. Put it this way, by the time I saw the Mamas Boys video for that song, I knew the song very well by that point and found it odd there was yet another cover of it coming out so close together. Oh yeah, and don't forget about Slade's brief comeback that year due to all these covers. Seeeeeee chameleon, lying there in the sun. All thanks to everyone.....run away. HEY!!!! Keep your hands off my power supply!!!!!!!

I saw Mama's Boys (and their lead guitarist "The Professor") open at a Labor Day concert at Robert's Stadium in Evansville, Indiana in 1984. The other acts in order of appearance were:

Fastway
Twisted Sister
Ratt

I went for Ratt (who were HOT after "Round and Round") but I thought Fastway was the best act on the bill. Had to buy "All Fired Up" immediately after seeing them scorch. Was never a big TS fan, but they were better in concert than on their albums. Mamas Boys were alright, but the guitar solo by "The Professor" was almost as laughable as Nigel Tufnel's in "This is Spinal Tap". Way over the top with violin bowing and face grimacing, etc....

I only have TNT's "Tale No Tales" but I loved it then and still like it today.

Actually, it wasn't that bad. Kinda wish I had it back.
That singer was crazy.

Alright...it's wager time. (smiley)
I seem to remember it this way. Both albums were released in '84.
I had been listening to the Mama's Boys version for awhile because I heard it and taped it from our local radiostation's "Rockshop" show. I loved it.

Then Quiet Riot released their 2nd album and the radio stations just ate it up (since their 1st album did well). Suddenly I began to hear the Quiet Riot version all over the place. I remember being ticked because Quiet Riot already had their place in the sun...why rain on Mama's Boys' parade? I don't think I ever heard the Mama's Boys version on the radio after that....and Mama's Boys never made it.
:(

Anyhoo...I'll have to do some research.
