yeah, i've seen the set list (the show is tonight) and i saw they have some kind of medley of tunes from the early albums in chronological order (or "geometric order" as Neil Peart might put it). It's nice that they're at least teasing "Bastille Day", but after decades of completely ignoring Caress of Steel live, I think they'd need to do the entire "Fountain of Lamneth" to make up for it. I love Rush, but I don't get how they can go so long without playing a lot of great tunes like Lakeside Park, In the End, Making Memories, Cinderella Man, you name it - when they've been doing various songs from the 1st album all along. By the way, I saw Audioslave do a great "Working Man" last year! Okay, time to go put on "Caress of Steel"

well, the Rush show was a nice break from the exhausting thread about racism i've been so involved in! managed to get myself a kickass seat that wasn't properly mine. great show, although i wasn't too into the opening medley in which they seemed to say, "here's a taste of some stuff from albums that we are going to ignore in the set other than this quick instrumental glimpse of a song." Loved the Jerry Stiller video.

Rush rocked here in Atlanta. All the old stuff. I snuck from lawn seats into the reserved section and rushed the stage. My wife hates it when I do this since I'm usually quite drunk by this point and much more fun for me. She doesnt drink and really doesnt care for R&R. It's not easy for me to do this since I'm 6'4". I am surprised how often I get away with it.

I loved the show. Awesome. Every song. Two Encores. Beautiful Outdoor Amitheatre under the stars. Not too hot. Beer was cold. I was buzzin'....I was more than buzzin'

I was dancin' my ass off!

Thats one thing my wife notice. The whole crowd just stood there in watched. A few heads bobbin' and bangin'! Then there was me ON GUITAR! ON BASS! DOIN" THE DRUM SOLO! DANCIN" AND GROOVIN'

I told my wife everyone stands there cause the band is so good the crowd is amazed and astonished. I dont know if she bought that but it was better than arguin' with me...LOL

Dont miss the show if they come your way!

Banterman....

If you need a ticket look on eBay. Youd be shock about the deals you can find. I just got 6th for floor for Sting & Annie Lennox at cost. 2nd row for Heart at cost. Great Toto seats for cost.

Not everyone can make there money and just want to unload....

YOU GOTTA GO!

I did go last night! It was great, sans my complaint about the lack of 70s material (to be expected). I am so into blowing off my assigned seats these days. Gotta thank Zebrafreek for coaching me on that a bit. Thanks for making me aware that Heart is on tour. I'll have to check the dates.

At least you guys get to see RUSH. They haven't made the trek down to the New Orleans area in quite some time....

I am partial to their earlier stuff too, but any RUSH is better than no RUSH!!!!!!

Last night huh? I guess I didnt look at the date on the post.

Always check ebay. You'll be shocked what you can find. People get desperate and not everyone is a scalper.

I'm surprised about Rush not playing 70's music. They played a lot at the Atlanta show. I enjoy most all Rush and the night was a big blur so I couldnt even say what percentage of each genre of music they played. I think they mixed it up well.

My only complaint is I couldve done without the covers. I am a devout Rush fan but I really dont enjoy the never cd of cover tunes. I felt they couldve selected much better choices of music.

We haven't seen Rush since 1996....they've conveniently passed our area over twice.

That ****s they stear clear of some cities.

I never miss a Rush show. Just one of those bands that doesnt come along every year and they aren't getting any younger even though I'm sure they'll play for many more years.

If I want to see a show I make the road trip.

I have to everytime for Zebra.

Most all bands come to Atlanta and my home is open to the Zebra board members. I am lucky to have pull to get good seats and sometimes get VIP or meet the bands. Not always.

In the last two weeks I've seen Rush, Madonna (dont laugh), Toto, Prince, and have Blondie with the Pshycadelic Furs Friday then 2nd row for Heart Sunday and box seats for Boston Monday.

My wife isnt so thrilled that I've already spent well over $1000 in tickets. Only one year I can remember for concerts has compared to this one and that was 1987.

If they come I gotta go....

I'd really like to know why they stopped coming. Tours between 1984 - 1996, they didn't miss New Orleans (except for Power Windows that went to Lafayette). No amphitheatre, entertainment tax? Or.....nah...not going there....might open up a can of worms.

Do you get most other major acts?

Maybe they don't want to step on the other super power trio. The local boys...you know....

The dome is too big for them. They can only even sell 16,000 in Atlanta. You have avenue that size to accomodate them?

It looked like Van Halen was passing Atlanta. They added the show. We even get some that pass us up and we get most everyone.

Like I said if its worth it I'll road trip it. Good part of not having kids.

Next time you come to Atlanta and stay with us. We'll show you a good time and you'll save on the hotel.

Probably option number 2. Why play here when you can go to the coast and not get charged a RIDICULOUS amount of taxes to play. Louisiana politics...I still don't get it.

NY Post review of Radio City shows below by the infamous Dan Aquilante who finally gave the boys a good word or 2 after decades of ripping them.

I saw the show and having seen RUSH 40 times found them to be excellent! The crowd was all standing and into it as I was in Orchestra 3 row SS with good seats. I thought TSOR was weak but overall sound was great. The highlight for me was Red Sector A - great visuals and sound. And I loved Mystic Rhythms and Earthshine and all the old ones. The best part of Roll The Bones to me is the video but the graphics only came on halfway through the song. Animate would've been better with the select words on video but I still liked it. Dreamline lasers were cool and 2112 was wonderful! Lots of women in the crowd. I enjoyed the covers more than I thought I would. By -Tor and OLV were great. Working Man was really good. All 3 guys are superb musicians and I had a lot of fun as the sound was incredible!

NY POST -

IT'S easy to slag off Rush.

The Canadian band's music can be ponderous, from its dark lyric content to the epic-length songs that sometimes leave the uninitiated in a slack-jawed sonic stupor.

Yet even the most ardent detractors would have to agree the band's series of sold-out shows at Radio City, which concluded last night, emphasized the group's very best attributes as musicians and as showmen.

It was a fitting gig for a band celebrating its 30th anniversary.

There's just no denying the massive sound made by what boils down to just a guitar/bass/drum trio.

It's a sonic assault made fat by nails-on-slate singer Geddy Lee's inventive bass work. Neil Pearts' drumming is to progressive rock what Buddy Rich was to jazz. And guitarist Alex Lifeson actually out-Claptoned Clapton on the band's cover of "Crossroads."

Fan or not, it's difficult not to admire how accomplished these musicians are at their individual instruments and how tight they are as an ensemble.

A Rush hour would have been plenty, but the band's three-hour set was a display of the group's respect and devotion for its legions of fans. Nobody went home feeling slighted by a stingy show.

Early on, Lee received huge, roaring cheers when he announced, "We're gonna reward you for coming — by playing way too much music."

While the Rushmores in attendance will no doubt cite material from the "2112" or "Pictures" albums as the evening's peaks, the real highlights of the night came when the trio covered more concise songs, like The Who's "The Seeker" and Pete Townshend's arrangement of "Summertime Blues."

In case the music wasn't enough, the band also offered a terrific laser show accompanied by video graphics, animation and seizure-inducing flashes that kept the atmosphere lively — even when some individual songs were struggling to sail out of musical doldrums.

I took my daughter on Wednesday night and we both loved it. It was hard for me to keep away from the Rush trading spots for the entire leg of the tour (especially since I run the biggest one), but it was worth it not to know the setlist and to be surprised with them playing every song off side 1 of MP!

Between The Wheels was a great surprise and the R30 overture totally rocked.

You NOLA people do not be upset, this was only the first leg of the tour and, aside from Radio City, was all outdoor theaters. Maybe they'll get you when they come back in the winter (as they always seem to) and start hitting indoor venues.
