The extraordinary live show of the progressive metal band Queensryche is captured on the new DVD 'The Art of Live' scheduled for release by Sanctuary Records on April 20, 2004.

'The Art of Live' was filmed in summer and fall 2003 on Queensryche's tour promoting the Sanctuary studio album 'Tribe.' The summer tour was a co-headlining run with Dream Theater.

Vocalist Geoff Tate, guitarist Michael Wilton, guitarist Mike Stone, bass guitarist Eddie Jackson and drummer Scott Rockenfield perform Queensryche classics, the finest 'Tribe' songs and a cover encore of The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" featuring Dream Theater..

The songs on 'The Art of Live' include: "Tribe," "Sign of the Times," "Open," "Losing Myself," "Desert Dance," "Great Divide," "Rhythm of Hope," "My Global Mind," "Roads to Madness," "Della Brown," "Breaking the Silence," "The Needle Lies," "Best I Can" and "Won't Get Fooled Again."

'The Art of Live' was shot in black and white and is presented in full-screen picture format with 5.1 and DTS audio options. Bonus extras include an "on the road" travel documentary shot by the band members themselves, as well as backstage footage.

VH1 Classic is sponsoring Queensryche's headlining U.S. tour in spring 2004. Joining Queensryche on tour is vocalist Pamela Moore who will perform her "Sister Mary" character's vocal parts when the band plays songs from its legendary 'Operation: Mindcrime' album.

My thoughts...I am buying this DVD though I am quite disappointed about the number of Tribe songs on this CD. I like Open and Desert Dance but think the rest of the CD is horrible. Nonetheless, I will buy the DVD due to the other songs and the Who cover with Dream Theater.

I'll be on it in a drunken backstage debate with Mike Stone about how Bruce ****inson's solo stuff kicks the crap out of new Maiden anyday!

Earl and I debated the Tribe tour and figured it was more like the Geoff Tate Band than Queensryche.

nay...separate animals, mi amigo, the GTB was more like AOR, whilst Tribe still echoes with Chris DeGarmo's influence.

personally? Rage For Order or Mindcrime...STILL

there's differing stories on just how much CDG's input on Tribe was, he's credited on a few tracks for writing, but as far as what he actually plays on, I'd have to look up. IMHO "Art Of Life" was the most DeGarmo-ish.

Unfortunately, Chris is happier nowadays flying planes than commiting back to the band.

Mike Stone was a REALLY cool cat to meet, and his playing was most excellent at the HOB show last year (much better than the tour kick-off date in Houston that me, Earl and Rob went to), but CDG is still definitely a missed element in the equation.

That ****s that Chris is really happy flying planes because Queensryche needs him back in the band BADLY! They have not had any guitar player in the band that can take Chris' place as far as the solos go. I think the 2 replacements have butchered Chris' solos live and while I understand life goes on for Chris and the rest of Queensryche, they have not done a good job in replacing Chris yet...Just my opinion though...

It's true Jim, the guitar solos are tough to get through when Michael Wilton doesn't play them!
