SLIPKNOT Reveal New Album Title
SLIPKNOT have set "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" as the title of their long-awaited follow-up to 2001's "Iowa", due on May 25 through Roadrunner Records. The first track released will be "Pulse of the Maggots", which will be made available for download on the group's web site on March 30.
"It's got the feel of MINISTRY crossed with SLAYER," SLIPKNOT drummer Joey Jordison told MTV.com. "It's heavier than **** and it's really cool. Also, it's the first introduction to the shredder old-school guitar solos of Mick [Thompson] and Jim [Root]. Mick and Jim are two of the best guitar players I've ever heard, and I think it's cool that we never really showcased their talent at playing technical metal solos. But when you hear them play back-and-forth solos on that track, it's so insane that it kind of makes you laugh."
According to Jordison, SLIPKNOT chose the name "Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses" because it emphasizes the album's underlying theme of bonding and unification
My Thought: This could possibly be one of the best selling and best overall metal albums this year. Rick Rubin is producing the album so you know it will sound top notch. Cant wait to see them at Ozzfest this year!

Well Chinarain, I must say, if you were into these guys, I would be completely shocked!!! But I can see why you aint into these guys...which is fine. Slipknot is not for everyone....but I have to say, I am looking forward to seeing these guys on Ozzfest. I mean, there are 9 guys in this band and I hear they put on a great live show. We shall find out...and right after Slipknot, Judas Priest will be playing the main stage because I think Slipknot is the last second stage band and for the last 2 bands on the main stage (sabbath, priest) no second stage bands will be playing.

I love heavy songs that deal with killing shit.

Oh really now? Well maybe Slipknot might be your thing...here's a sample lyric of a song from them called "Disaster Piece" which is on their 2001 release, Iowa...
I wanna slit your throat and f*ck the wound
I wanna push my face in and feel the swoon
I wanna dig inside, find a little bit of me
Cuz the line gets crossed when you don't come clean..
Doesnt get any more vicious than that......

I don't really care for them. But then again I never really gave them a true listen. I can't get past the masks.

Their image is one of the reasons why they are a popular metal act today. Unfortunately for Slipknot, Mr. Bungle beat them on the mask idea...that is Mike Patton from Faith No More's old band incase you are not aware of them.

I remember Mr. Bungle well. They were a great band. I've heard a few Slipknot tunes, but not too many. I will have to give them another shot.

Alright....gotta eat a little crow on this one.
After Slipknot's last release, I didn't give even give this new one a chance.
My bad.....my nephew brought the new one over so that I could put a clip from one of the songs on to his phone as a ringtone.....
I gave it a good listen and I'll have to say that I can get into this one. It's much different (IMO) than their last one. Not quite as thrash. It is very heavy but not as erratic. It has good beats and he's not screaming as much.
Guitar is great. Voice is much better than I remember.
(Maybe I should give the last one a better listen)
It has lots of music for the money. I think it has 14 songs.
If you like a heavy guitar with good riffs (and occassional thrash), then I could recommend this one.

Strangely enough, I swear that the new Slip tune that's being played on the radio (seems like down here at least they have a "hit", wonder if that means they sold out to their "real" fans as I used to know some people into them & they didn't' seem like they would like Slip to become "known")...
anyway the song has come at least 5 times in the past month or so at the same place each time: when ZGirl & I go to Wal Mart for out weekly grocery shopping that tune is on the radio either when we pull up to Wal Mart or right when we leave the parking lot. Crazy! That's the only time I have even heard the song too!
We don't even listen to the radio much & it's just by chance that I heard it first couple of times because usually ZGirl is playing her same CD's over & over in the autos. Now of course we leave the radio on when getting to Wal Mart and when leaving to see if they play the Slip tune.

They've got some musical talent beyond those stupid masks that they where. A real good band doesn't need a gimic like masks to get people attention. And whats the deal with 2 drummers? I know one is a normal one and the other does different percusions, but I don't see the point in having one. There regular drummer isn't bad at all. He was out in Europe replacing Lars Ulrich of Metallica cause he was sick and suppositly made Ulrich look horrible. Then again the lyrics they write just are so inappropraite, possibly another gimic for attention?

Slipknot lyrics inappropriate? UMMMM...what's the difference if you hear the language on radio or in a movie? I am sure you too may use some of these words that Slipknot used on their records, but then again, maybe you are better than all of the other teenagers I see roaming the streets these days...
If you think Slipknot is good on record, WAIT TILL YOU SEE THEM LIVE! They are PHENOMINAL!
As far as having two drummers, they have 1 drummer who plays a drumset and two guys who use percussion instruments. Sometimes only 1 of the guys uses percussion instruments and the other 1 will do something else...
As far as the masks being used to garner attention, you must not be a Kiss fan neither...
There is nothingwrong when a band wears makeup or masks on stage, if you are not into that sort of thing, there are PLENTY of bands out there that will satisfy you...
These guys are one of the best metal bands to come out in the last 5 years and this is the future...along with a few others...
