Ah come on boys, there is plenty of room on the Saints bandwagon. Only CBS polls us number 1, ESPN number 1. They are stating facts, we beat the Pack all ready, I'm sure we will meet again, but you guys can't be serious about a 13 -3 record this year. Ahman Green is Good, so is Farve, as long as he doesn't take another smack, but your schedule is actually getting harder, not softer. The teams you are facing are Chicago, they were playoff material last year. Tampa Bay, another playoff team. Miami, playoff team last year. Again, you are facing teams either bidding for playoffs this year, or they were strong teams last year. You want to talk about Detriot, you almost lost to them too. You beat the Panthers (1-15) by 3 points, in the 4th quarter.
Enjoy your week off guys, your going to need it for the long haul.

I figured I would throw in some quick stats that you may or not be aware of.
New Orleans----Offense 31.57 PPG
--------------------Defense 24.57 PPG
Green Bay-------Offense 29.0 PPG
--------------------Defense 22.0 PPG
Ok, the magic number is 7 for both teams. Each team is scoring 7 points more than their defense is allowing. But look at the caliber of teams each team has faced.
New Orleans opponents last year W/L 71-48
Green Bay opponents last year W/L 52-64
N.O. Brooks Yards passing---1643
G.B. Farve Yards passing-----1706
N.O. Brooks Total TD's-------16
G.B. Farve Total TD's--------14
N.O. McCallister Rush Yards---721
G.B. Green Rush Yards---------640
N.O. McCallister Total TD's----6
G.B. Green Total TD's----------5
I could go on and on and compare these 2 teams. They are almost identical, except for the schedule.
Now I know what you Saints fans were doing under those brown paper bags all those years, learning how to compile stats. If it comes to Lambeau watch out. Defense getting healthy, offense just starting to fire on all 8 cylinders. Brett Favre putting up MVP numbers. The secound halfs gonna be fun.

Doc, Lambeau dosent scare us.....we got Brooks, he played there remember? Also, we've seen your defense when they were at it's best, they couldn't stop us from reaching the end zone. The problem is not your defense, it's your offensive line, not holding back the pass rush, that's why Farve went down, that's why we rattled his ass for 4 quarters. Stop thinking about the playoffs, and start worring about your next week battles. It's not going to be easy to win all those games in the coming weeks. No one is rolling over on us and saying "Oh, look, it's the Saints, ok let them win now". We are stealing wins, from 20 points behind.
I'm at least tickled to the fact that you are acknowledging us as a potential playoff team. After a few more wins, we may still have a seat for you on the bandwagon!!!!!
Come on OU812, move over, we got some non-believers looking to hop aboard.

Squirrels?....What?
We diden't lose to Detroit. Your suppose to beat the weak teams on your schedule. At least our loss was a respectible one. To a tough team. Unless you want to call your saints weak?
Now put these stats in your pipe and smoke em. You can beat stats to death all you want. Its the wins that get you to the superbowl.
Brooks = 7 ints --- 90.8 QB rating
Farve = 3 ints --- 102 QB rating with a relatively unfamiliar corps of recievers.
They're is only one team in the NFC that gives up more yards on the pass defense then the Saints. Thats Minnesota and you know how they're getting ripped for it. A close third is Detroit. Two teams in the cellar. Now you can pass for all the yards you want but if you give em right back whats the difference?
Average Yards gained on offense and given up on defense (per game):
Green Bay Offense = 368.9 yards
Green Bay Defense = 320.1
New Orleans Offense = 347.4
New Orleans Defense = 356.4
And with Miami coming up and Ray Lucas quarterbacking. Stop with the jokes! I graduated from Rutgers, the same school he attended. Rutgers football program has been pathetic (joke of New Jersey) over the past 15 years! Him and Jim Mcmahon for Detroit shoulden't be in the NFL. Logistics and statistics were my strong points in college.
One thing I know is this. You can beat up on the stats all you want. On any given day a loser can beat a winner.
What good is a cracker without a big slab of SHARP CHEDDAR?

YOU JUST PUT YOUR FOOT IN YOUR MOUTH. YOU SAID THAT WE LOST TO A WEEK TEAM DETROIT. BUT WE BEAT ALL THE HARD TEAMS . SO IF THATS TRUE THEN WE CANT LOOSE BECAUSE DETROIT WONT BE IN THE PLAYOFFS.
Once again its like I said before in another post:
You can't use Modus Tollens/Pollens logic in football. Its unacceptable.
SAY TEAM A BEATS TEAM B BY 40 POINTS
THEN NEXT WEEK TEAM B BEATS TEAM C BY 40 POINTS
THAT DOESN'T GUARANTEE YOU THAT TEAM A IS GONNA KICK THE CRAP OUT OF TEAM C THE FOLLOWING WEEK.
For all you know one of us can be playing Cincinnati on a make or break day for getting into the playoffs and lose. All I said was that you have to try to win the games your suppose too.

Mark, we were 7-9 last year. We were the laughing stock of the season. We had turmoil on and off the field. We were 50 - 1 to make the playoffs this year, as a wilcard. No one had thought we were good. Yes we lose to Detriot, a winless team. Go ahead, insert your jokes here. But let's be frank about this. We're both 6-1, you have your bye this week, we have ours next week. We'll just have to wait until the next 6 weeks or so, and see how you guys handle a tougher challenge. Comparing teams like Detriot and Carolina to teams like Tampa and 49ers, is a no brainer, unless you were in a coma and missed last years playoff matches.
I guess you've seen that movie, "Any Given Sunday". I'm glad you saw the Saints beat the Pack on that "Given Sunday". Will there be another Sunday......we know we will be there, regardless of the cold factor.
This is a nice debate and love the passion of fans and all, but time will tell. We will pick up this debate once your Monday night battle against the very weak Fish.

True, but Dunn may give us some problems because of his quickness and shifty running. I think it will be a balanced game for Atlanta, run and pass. Crowd noise will help with timing, and Vick is all about timing. We need to blitz him often and the first play, to give him an idea what he is up against. I think Sammy will get to him at least one time.

The dirty bird on Bourbon Street. Deuce should have fallen down on the 2 yard line, and let them run down some time off the clock. We know we could have scored with him, why didn't we think of that. Oh well, a week off to relax and destress about it. 6-2 isn't a bad start to the season. We played our game, but fell short on time. The defense needs some help.
We'll bounce back......we're the Saints
I was lucky enuf to have that game televised in my area. One hell of a game. I can't say I was rooting for the Saints since it might come down to best record with my cheeseheads. The Saints O is very impressive. They aint the Aints no more.
Diden't see the game only highlights but it sounded good. Funny though. The Jersey paper hear written up a column on the game. They referred to Michael Vick as Vicki. Well, the Pack is 9-1, the Saints are 7-2. The Pack still can win games. The Eagles don't look to impressive, as I said at the beginning of the season, with McNabb. He goes down, or has a bad outing, the whole team will suffer. 49ers are playing tough, ever since we gave them a loss. I know Marc has said, lambeau is the difference. We just have to wait until that. If weather is the factor versus talent. Again, a dome team to win in harse conditions is very small. That's why they don't play super bowls up there. There was talk of changing that, another story for another day. It's not really the home field advantage, it's the climate to those who don't normally play or practice in sub zero conditions. Not an excuse for those dome teams or southern teams.
Again, we have to wait and see for another 6 weeks.

from what i can see the saints are winning but we need to get in the end zone more in order to do damage in the playoffs
yleekiyote
11-11-2002, 02:36 PM
Actually, the offense is putting up over 30 points a game. It's our defense that is leaving us to work more on offense. Our sacks are low, we are allowing too many big plays. Yes, we should have gotten in to the endzone, instead of the field goals. But it goes what I've been saying all along about Hasslet. He is a very smart coach. He doesn't want to go to far ahead of our opposition. Keep the game close, and don't let the league see stuff that could come back to haunt us. Look at New England last year. Prime example of a team keeping a game plan hidden. I picked New England to win around the first round of the playoffs. They had a game plan that was working and didn't panic. The Saints are in that same situation. Were 2-1 in our division, with 3 games left. Our division gives us Tampa, that is great on defense, horrible on offense. They are who we need to beat, to get into the playoffs. I think we can score against anybody in this league right now.
In either case. Most definitely looks as if the Super Bowl champion will be coming out of the NFC this Year. Too much parity in the AFC.
OU812

mark what do you think green bay to play the saints for the nfc championship
yleekiyote
11-11-2002, 04:42 PM
I'm with that, but like Mark will say, it's going to be decided on home field advantage. If we are tied up to that week, we will have the advantage, if it stays the same, and the season ended tomorrow, we would be going to lambeau. Either way, I'm hoping for a warm front that week in January. lol
The AFC shot out too fast and now they are struggling. Oakland will prob lose tonight, KC, Miami, & SD lost yesterday.
Knowing our luck, it would be so bad, the fans will actually wear clothing, and complain, it's too frickin cold to play football.
So far its looking that way. But time will tell. Home field advantage will definitely factor.
Reminds me of a game when Brett threw a touchdown pass at Lambeau a few years back. They interviewed him afterward and Brett's response was something like this:
"I knew it was good when all the crowd erupted. Up till then I wasen't sure myself how it turned out. I was lying on my back. My hand was so numb that I diden't even know if I was still holding the ball when I threw my arm forward".
With 6 weeks to go, it's way too early to talk about nfc championship games let alone division titles. While it looks as though the pack is a virtual lock to win their very weak division, the saints by no means are a shoe in to win theirs. With the Falcons this week and the Bucs down the road, your division is up for grabs. Your defense is giving up way too many points right now, and down the stretch that may prove to be your achilles heal.
yleekiyote
11-12-2002, 10:47 AM
Hey Doc, the problem with our division is, yes we lost to Atlanta, because we left too much time on the clock, for the winning field goal. Our defense is struggling but our offense is putting up 30 points on average, which is pretty good considering our record. Tampa Bay is coming here, for a Sunday nighter. The game is sold out already which means it's going to be extremely loud in that dome. Tampa does not have a potent offense, mediocre at best. Their defense keeps them in the game. We defeated them week 1, in a close match. But whenever we forecast a game, like Atlanta as example. And we say, we will beat them, people say, why their a very tough team, and we escape with a win, it's always the same answer. It wasn't how great the Saints played, it was how poorly the Falcons played. I can hear it now. "Oh, cousin Vick just wasn't at his best today, he allowed way too many mistakes to happen." or "His receivers were not getting open", thats my all time favorite. Please don't give us any credit, we don't want it. We've beaten several playoff teams already, and still we are looked upon as not a favorite for the big dance, but maybe as a wildcard. If you believe in that, I have a swamp I want to sell you, and it comes with a free bridge too.
As Joe Horn always says, "Shhhhhhh, we don't need the attention, they'll see us eventually. By then, it's too late."
Must be nice to live in a place where you can say "The game is sold out already" for a game a few weeks in advance.
Up here Jets and Giants tickets are sold out for the next ****in 30 years! Not that I would want season tickets anyway for either. But when the Pack comes into town I would like to see a game without having a scalper rape my wallet!

You have to look at our history. Hell, we evented a use for paper bags, other than carrying groceries home. We haven't had much to cheer about over the years. Some seasons we felt why bother, others we were unstoppable. This year, we are even better than we've ever been. Each year, each coach (Mora, Ditka, Hasslet), have worked on certain areas. Mora was more defense than offense. Ditka only wanted to bring in a Walter Payton wannabe, and Hasslet is offensive. Ditka *****ed us big time. Ricky is no more of a running back than Priest Holmes. McAllister is the total package, as the league is starting to say, he is the next Marshall Faulk. If we had the mentality of a Tampa defense, we would be unstoppable, all the way through San Diego.
Our defense will come around, and begin to play tougher.

If the Pack can squeeze off a few points, they have a good shot. The Bucs O can not score to save their ass. Their D is number one in my book. That game is always good. I remember Farve would say, "Sapp brings the best out of me, and I bring the best out of him". Score early and fast, and the Pack will take them. Make it a tennis match, the Buc's D will win the game. A Saints fan is torn right now. Do I want the Bucs or the Pack to win? Hey, we lose to Atlanta, and TJ ranks us number 2, right behind the Pack. Sometimes those rankings are bogus, but I think we are in the hunt, in the top 10 for sure.

The Bucs Run D is oustanding. Their secondary is a little shaky. If Farve can hook up with Driver this week for a couple long shots, they'll win. If they try and run Green too much, it will be a field goal game. Loosen up the D, throw long. Farve and Driver are on my fantasy team, so I need the points to ensure a playoff spot for my league.

Desperate time now. We lost, so did the Pack. Tampa is coming here next Sunday night for our only ESPN game this year. If we take Tampa, and we should, and the Pack lose again, it could be very interesting for playoff time. The Saints **** right now. Without McAllister, we can not get in rythym. Our defense needs to step up and act like they want to win, and go to the big game.

AB LOOKED LIKE A 3ED STRING QB TODAY.
A season of streaks, good and bad. I still think the the Pack can run the table and finish 13-3. Even 12-4 might still get us home field for the playoffs. We need a lil help, starting next week from the Saints. What really is interesting to me is that the last game of the season against the Jets may be very important to both teams.
If the PACK doesn't clean up on the BEARS at home next weekend then they are in trouble! So are the Saints now that Atlanta has snuck by them.
Saints are gonna have to come up big next week for Green Bay's sake and they're own.
Green Bay hasen't impressed me in away Big Games yet, losing to New Orleans and Tampa Bay at home. They're winning the games they should be but they're not playing well in the tough ones. They still have San Fran on the road in a couple weeks and the JETS at the end of the season.

Well, I watched the Eagles smack the 49ers like adopted stepchildren. Even without a QB, that team has talent, on Defense especially. The 49ers looked like a deer caught in the headlights. Green Bay is still not that impressive yet, neither are my beloved Saints. Tampa is coming and it's either "Put Up Or Shut Up" night at the dome. We win, the world revolves around us. We lose, stick a fork in us, were done. Atlanta seems to have the balance right now. A good O and D. They would be the team to take the division, I think. They whipped our asses twice, took it to the Steelers for over 75 minutes, and they still show up each week. Of all the teams on the NFC side, Atlanta looks like the true team, second I would give to the Eagles, the Packers, the Bucs, then the Saints. My really early predictions:
Superbowl NFC : Green Bay
Superbowl AFC : Oakland
NFC Wildcards : Saints, 49ers, Green Bay, Eagles, Tampa, Atlanta
AFC Wildcards : Jets, Miami, Oakland, Chargers, Chiefs, Patriots

Someone gave me two tickets to Sunday nights game. Taking my oldest with me. I'm hoping that the Saints kick the living shit out of the Bucs. I'm so tired of seeing this team being so inconsistent. This week, they need to stand up and show the world what they got. They have talent all over this team, they just can't show it on the same day. The Bucs bandwagon is getting pretty hefty now. I want to see Sapp pull that crap with Turley, like he did with Green Bay. They will send him home in a body bag.
My gut feeling is the Saints are going to be relentless, and beat the bucs by 14 or more points. They know what's at stake here. Home field advantage for playoffs. We beat the bucs, and the Falcons start losing games, we have them back here for wildcard week. Everyone, make sure you watch the game. It's going to be the loudest game ever.
