Now Dad is on isolation because he caught MRSA, a virulent staph infection that is resistant to most antibiotics. It is very common in hospitals. Now he's on 3 different antibiotics trying to beat this. I'm really starting to think he might not make it.:(

Wakddood

Turns out that Dad's lung collapsed, and he also has a tumor on his lung from smoking. The Doc said he probably won't make it and it's just a matter of time. So it turns out Stinker and I are going through the same shit. I don't know how many of you have lost a parent but this is the worst thing I've ever experienced. It's really weird, where I work everybody has been losing family. I guess it's my turn now. Just in time for the holidays too.SHIT :(

As I said before (no pun intended) don't give up till the last breathe is gone.

Wakddood. Man, I sure am sorry to hear about your dad. I know EXACTLY what you are going through. I lost my dad to lung cancer when I was 11 years old. ( Which pretty much cured me from ever wanting to smoke. ) What I wouldn't give for a few more minutes with him. Take the time to be by his side and be thankful for the times that you have had with him.

Wakddood
11-26-2003, 10:21 PM
No, it's his time. I don't want to see him live and have the tumor spread and see him die from that. Cancer is a very painful death. The doctor said if he does live he'll be in the hosp on the vent for a long time. But I guess it's all up to God now. I'm praying for His will not mine.

My stepmother passed away over 7 years ago from Ovarian Cancer. Very quick. Just last year, my birth mother passed away from a heart attack.....2 days after my birthday. Do you think that will haunt me all my life?

Enjoy the moments while they still beat in your hearts.
God Bless

Jon:

I lost my mom last year to Ovarian cancer. It was and still is the toughest thing I have ever had to go through. If I can be of any help to you based on my own experiences, please don't hesitate to call me or e-mail. If you want my info - send me a PM

And you are right, you don't want him to suffer needlessly - cancer is a tough disease to watch someone go through. How old is your dad?

He's only 60 but through the heavy drinking and smoking, it really kicked his ass. He's been in the nursing home where I work since Apr. with Alcohol Brain Dementia. He stopped drinking in 1/97 but by that time the damage was already done. we only had a few years to reconcile before he started going downhill. This has been a real shitty year.

My mom was only 70. I'm sorry to hear about his history and how it has come to fruition today. 60 is young also. Even though the time was short that you had to reconcile, I'm sure it will be time that you will always be grateful for. Imagine if ya hadn't under the circumstances now - last thing you'd wanna have is regret. Liek I said, if I can help based on my own experiences and I'll send ya my e-mail addy.

Okay, guys.....not that we're trying to see who's story is worse, and I'm not saying mine is, but my dad died when he was 43. He had leukemia that we didn't even know he had. He signed himself into the hospital and died 44 days later. I was 23 and my daughter was 4 months old....(talk about post-partem depression)... It's been 14 years since he died (which he died on my parents' anniversary), and it still feels like it was yesterday. I know you'll never forget him, and you'll miss him for a long, long time. Just keep his memory alive and remember him with all the good in your life. Remember that he's always with you, and by the time he's gone, he'll forget all the bad times and it'll all be good....hold on to that. Be grateful you did get to reconcile, and know that he will be in a better place with no pain. Until then, we'll keep you in our prayers.

They did a bronchoscopy on my dad the other day, no tumor found. But he's still fighting off the pneumonia and it's still a good chance that he won't make it. Now I'm hoping that he does but not counting on it, that's up to God. Just trying to accept it either way. Thanks everybody for all your support and prayers, you guys are the best. 0:~)
