Who's your fave female rocker? There are quite a few great ones. Your choices are the Wilson sisters, Pat Benatar, Lita Ford, Joan Jett, Stevie Nicks, and Janis Joplin. I have to say I like Stevie the best. She was my first crush and I love her voice.

Yeah the Wilson sisters are a damn close second for me, I love them too but they're at their best together not seperate that's why I put them up that way when all the others are solo. But I couldn't leave them out because of their huge influence on the music world.

Now, I'm a little partial to this questions since I manage a Heart tribute band. But in all honesty I do think that each of the female rockers have kudos in their own right. Their styles of music are very different. But truthfully, I do think Ann and Nancy are an awesome duo!

Well Dave, I guess Lita WAS a sex-pot in the 80's although she really didn't have many other females to contend with. She isn't looking too hot now!

I have to agree with you. I think Stevie has the best, most recongizable voice of all rockers, but those Wilson sisters are a close second. I could listen to Stevie all day!!!

I love you all, but you are insane if you didn't vote for either Stevie or the Wilson sisters! I went w/Stevie due to the fact that the Wilsons sold out and committed a few musical atrocities in the 80s, but the 70s Heart material is awesome!

So why would I be insane if I voted for Lita Ford?
The poll is not which is the "best".....
It asks who is my "favorite", and with that, I go with the metal babe!
She could play the guitar better than ANY of the others, too!
:D

:D I don't know about that, Nancy plays a pretty mean guitar and so does Lita's former bandmate Joan Jett. But you're right this is about faves not best because there is no best, everybody has their own voice and style. There are other female singers I love but they don't belong on this poll because they aren't true rockers. Like Dido or Belinda Carlisle. I just thought of one more, Dolores O'Riordan from the Cranberries is awesome too. Oh and by the way Nancy still looks pretty damn good and she ain't no spring chicken. But poor Ann is fighting the battle of the bulge.

do you guys know that on the studio version of "Barracuda" and many other classic Heart tunes, Nancy Wilson plays only acoustic guitar and does not play those cool leads? Those were played by the other guitarist in the 70s lineup, the guy whose name I can't remember right now (Derosier?) who also co-wrote a lot of those classic Heart tunes.

David,

I met Lita Ford three times in Dallas and she was always very gracious and kind to her fans. Saw her perform two times - great concerts.

Yeah, but Nancy plays the Ultra-Cool acoustic intro to "Crazy On You". That "other guitarist" in the 70's lineup was Howard Leese. I met him after a show when he was playing guitar for Paul Rodgers (of Bad Company). I asked him about that intro and he says that she did it and she was an incredible guitarist.

If I remember correctly she was married to the lead guitarist at one time but now she's married to Cameron Crowe and co-wrote the songs With Peter Frampton that Clearwater played in "Almost Famous". Cameron directed that film. Love that movie. Who's a Zebra BandAid?

Ann and Nancy are the coolest ever! Ann's pipes are awesome and Nancy plays some great acoustic and rhythm guitar. I really prefer the old Heart line-up up of the Wilsons, Roger Fisher (ld gtr), Steve Fossen (bs), Howard Leese (gtr/kbds) and Michael DeRosier (dr). All their major label releases through "Dog and Butterfly" are killer. "Mistral Wind" is a classic overlooked song!

Joan Jett is also a pretty cool femme rocker. I think she made some of the toughest rock ear candy on her first 3 LPs. "I Love Rock and Roll", "Do You Wanna Touch", "Bad Reputation", "Fake Friends" and so many other tunes just proved a girl could rock as hard as anybody.
