(I hope this hasn't been covered yet) Does anyone really care about them anymore?? It seems to me that there are less people showing up to see any tribute bands lately. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Anyone have a favorite tribute band??

Umm... If you are in the NY area - tribute bands are HOT!

I am in the NY-LI area. I'm sorry, I should have been more specific. I meant for Long Island in general.

I live on Long Island and I like quite a few of tribute bands here. (Exciter....Judas Priest Tribute, Live After Death....Iron Maiden Tribute, Theatre of Pain....Motley Crue Tribute, Live Wire....AC/DC Tribute, Sacred Heard....Dio Tribute, Wizard of Ozz...Ozzy Tribute, Evolution....Journey Tribute, Eddie Jelly & Cold Shot....Stevie Ray Vaughan Tribute...plus a few others that I just can't think of right now)
Sometimes it does seem that there are less people showing up but other times they do good. I hope that sometimes it's just a matter of other shows happening on the same night. I know quite a few people in some of the bands I mentioned and try to get to their shows as often as I can. A few of the people in the bands also have original bands that I like to go see too.

The best tribute band that I have seen is the Motley Crue one, Theatre of Pain. I have seen Kiss Army, Exciter (Judas Priest) and a few others and they are all very good, but if I had to pick one, I would say the Crue one was the best one. Check out their site http://www.motleycruetribute.com or http://www.cruetribute.com
The NY/LI area has overall good attendence at tribute shows. At least the shows I have been to...

The tribute seen is HOT In LI. Like Wednesday said...LOTS og great tributes...
Evolution (Journey - my favorite!!), Bad Animals (Heart), Joshua Tree (U2), In the Flesh (Pink Floyd), Eddie Jelley & Cold Shot (Stevie Ray Vaughn) etc. etc.
I think the attendance for these shows are like any other...sometimes they get a good turnout and sometimes not. It just depends on certain things like what's going on in people's lives at the time, what elese is going on in the area etc.
If you wanna hit a good website for tribute bands. Go to.....
www.tributecity.com (http://)

Please be patient, as we are going through some lead singer changes. We currently have Paul Mahos (http://www.paulmahos.com) But only in November it's definite. Until then, we're using Pete from Maniac (http://www.maniacalmusic.com) . Please also check out 2U (http://www.notu2.com), that's our new name, yes we're ditching the name Joshua Tree!

Another great tribute band that we played with once and haven't heard of them since is, "Mr.Crowley" Ozzy/Sabbath tribute. They're not listed on trbute city, at least I don't think. I'll check now
POWER WINDOWS - Rush
SABBRA CADABRA - Black Sabbath
RIFF RAFF - AC/DC
FACELIFT - Alice In Chains
.........all rocking tribute bands who are great in the NY area.

I dunno, I guess it's just me. Either that, or there aren't that many U2 fans on the island. I guess when you pay tribute to a band from overseas instead of paying tribute to an artist from Long Island (Billy Joel), you don't get as big a turnout. By the way, go see Mike Delguidice's Big Shot, not Gene's!

I must know you because I go to most of the shows where those bands play, especially when The Bone was doing the MOM shows. I know quite a few of the people in those bands you listed. I also like Master of Puppets- Metallica, Riot Act-Pearl Jam, Snowblind-Sabbath, 2112-Rush and a few others.

Yes Delirious Nomad, I am a 'metal godess' (thank-you Jennbo for adding the 'ess' ;))!
Changed my avatar to the one and only Halford wearing an Exciter t-shirt. I had to crop the picture alot so I don't know if you can really see it too good. It looks much better when you see the whole picture. I know the guys in the Judas Priest tribute band, Exciter, on Long Island and they gave Halford the shirt and he actually wore it and someone got a picture of it and gave it to the singer of the band.

It was REALLY funny!! I wore a green tie-dyed leotard and a lizard-looking mask, and I squirmed around a bit... As for the hissy voice, imagine Fran "The Nanny" Drescher playing Gollum...that about captures the essence of my performance!!;)

I thought it was someone on a Judas Priest board that was calling himself "Bilbo Baggins" from "Joshua Tree", but it turns out he was referring to the actual album, not the band....
See?....I told you it was nothing.;)
