Who do you side with in the Pink Floyd saga?
David Gilmour
Roger Waters
Neither
Both

It ****s! You'd think these two wou;d've said, "To hell with it! We'll get together again for the fans"! Not! Change is always inevitable. Not for the better most of the time!
The "Dark Side Of The Moon" DVD just released, made me laugh twice. Once, D.Gilmour was talking about putting some notes into a piece of equipment, then as he said you make an adjustment, he puts on "glasses" to make the adjustment! Then, Roger is responding to a question, goes off on a variance of the subject, then loses his train of thought!
I had to laugh! It must be tough getting old!! LOL!:D

A lot of people who saw Floyd said that Waters WAS Pink Floyd, due to his involvement of the last few albums(especially The Wall). I just wish the his concert wouldn't have been cancelled, then I could have seen first-hand what the talk was all about. Would have been nice to see an original member. The Floyd show I saw in the 90's was OK, but without Waters, it just felt like it was missing something.......

in terms of what? in terms of the band going on wo/Waters, I think they have the right. he didn't write ALL their stuff, and he didn't sing it all either. he wrote most of the concept albums, but much of what Floyd played live post-Waters was stuff written or co-written by other band members. Roger Waters is a great songwriter, but from everything I've heard from his mouth and read about him, he is a ****. He is really into putting his former bandmates down and acting like he is the only person from that band that's worth anything. Sounds like he'd be hard to work with (more like work for).

I'll add, though, that I think it's lame how augmented the live lineup was in the post-Waters era. what's w/the 2 drummers, is Nick Mason that bad? and I did miss Roger's voice, esp. on Comfortably Numb.

On Comfortably Numb, I agree with you. When Roger did it on his DVD, he sang the first and middle part himself. When Pink Floyd(w/o Roger) and with a local band here in the Houston area sings it, they do a chorus on Roger's parts. And to me, it ****s! I'd much rather hear one individual sing those parts, no matter who, just like on the album.

I'm siding with Gilmour on this one. Every band has it's problems. I think they would be back together if it weren't for Waters. Like someone said.....he is being a ****.
From everything that I've seen and heard (and to be fair, I'm not there) David has offered the olive branches and Roger has basically spit in his face.
Like I said, every band has bad times. I think Roger needs to grow up.
Just an observer to the situation.

YESSSSS Nomad, I agree! Despite what went on with who did who wrong with the Floyd break up, whose solo work is better? Well, Gilmour OF COURSE.

Oh yeah. I have the Gilmour solo's. I love 'em.
I don't want to knock Water's stuff, I don't have any, but the songs that I have heard I have not cared for.
I certainly don't mean to criticize those that like him because he is very talented. Everyone has different tastes.

Without a doubt WATERS 1,000%
I wouldn't even buy the live post Waters LIVE Floyd $$$ Machine DVD's or CD's!
No comparison to Waters' in the Flesh DVD / CD.
Gilmour now: Know the old Floyd Tune "Fat Old Sun" -that describes Gilmour
That stuff they did to Money in '88 -those goofy "oohh oooh" vocals and stuff......... nuff said.....
but then again i was strange listening to Floyd at the age of 4 when get this, nobody that I went to school with ever even KNEW who or what the Floyd was until I was in HIGH SCHOOL! (1985)! the whole post Waters Floyd mega tours $$$$ deal is what so many people know, to see Waters LIVE will convince & hardly anyone has seen WATERs live I guess compared to Floyd in the late 80's 90's..
so I can see why in general Gilmour is the more pop and new Floyd...
Dave is one of my fave guitarist but that's just it "guitarist" not songwriter up there with Waters in that respect.
If only the could ALL GET ALONG then I'd be VERY HAPPY -that would be my ultimate Rock Reunion tour even over DLR with Van Halen.
Seeing the Waters In The Flesh DVD is really cool but it really only makes me want to see those songs performed with the Floyd together live! But I can't even get into the Floyd later live stuff at all. To me the Waters show In The Flesh with stuff like a full version of Dogs with all of the cool little effects everywhere in the tune and the large band is the best & closest I could come to seeing the really Floyd & the next best thing.
I do not think they will ever reconcile their differences though sadly.
Anyone rather like Dave or Roger more than the other, think that the real Floyd will ever reunite? (not the Syd real Floyd, just the Floyd that most people know)

Roger is all about "It was me...me...me....ME!" He's such an ass, but he was the main songwriter. Still, the peaks that Floyd reached after Syd left would not have happened without Gilmour's input. His lyrical guitar playing and musical composing skills elevate Roger's lyrics special. They complemented each other just as much as Lennon did McCartney.
It's a shame they'll never make up. Just listening to "Meddle", "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Wish You Were Here" (and to a lesser extent "Animals" and "The Wall") prove what a colossally talented BAND they were. I still think Richard Wright's contributions were WOEFULLY overlooked ("Great Gig In the Sky" is stupendous in it's melodicism and his harmony vocals on "Echoes" make the song soar into the heavens). After watching the new DVD version of "Pink Floyd at Pompeii" all I can say about Nick Mason is he HAS TO BE up there in the pantheon of drummers like Bonham, Baker, Moon, Mitchell and Palmer.
