Hi. This is my first time posting on the non-Zebra chat. I was wondering if anyone knew who Dream Theater is. My freinds have been talking about them alot and I never really heard of them before. They told me to download some of their stuff. I don't know what their best album(s) are. If you know who they are could you recommend their best album's to me so I can get them. Thanks!

Hey Crash N Ride!
I met your Dad at the Village Pub Fri 7/11 at the Zebra show and we chatted for awhile. One of the things I talked to him about was Dream Theater. I came from their show at Jones beach and caught the last 1/2 of the Zebra show at the VP.
I've seen them 10 times live and have all their records. Let me tell you something...THIS IS THE BEST BAND TO COME OUT IN THE LAST 15 YEARS! PERIOD! This is my strongest opinion I will ever have about music. They have the best of everything...there is not one bad band member in this band, just like Zebra.
Dude, you wanna hear Dream Theater, buy these albums in order...
1. Metropolis PT 2 (Scenes From a Memory)
2. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence
3. Images and Words
4. Awake
5. A Change of Seasons
6. When Dream and Day Unite
7. Falling Into Infinity
These are all studio records. Figured I would give you the studio records 1st before you start listening to the live CD's.

How about "A Change of Seasons"? Very impressive release! Any band that can perform Pink Floyd, Kansas, Queen, Journey, The Dixie Dregs, and Genesis all in ten minutes...

Don,
I added ACOS to the list after you pointed that one out, I forgot about that one! Thanks for the reminder. Yes, that CD does RULE!
HoleyMother,
Dream Theater will be heading into the studio this fall to finish up their next CD and should have it done by early 2004. At which time, they will do a headlining tour of smaller venues, unless of course, they can finally book arenas based on demand. So to answer your question, I doubt DT tours this fall. But in the winter 2003/2004, I would say its a go...
Let me tell you something, if you thought DT was good on the QR tour, wait till you see them by themselves playing 2 and 1/2 - 3 HRS. They'll knock your socks off!!!
I was at the 2/16/00 show at the Roseland Ballroom in NYC, I was not at the 8/30/00 show at that same venue and that happened to be the day they filmed their DVD. They were suppose to play Long Island 8/31 but cancelled so they can end the tour in NYC. When I went to exchange my tickets of the 8/31 show to the 8/30 DVD show, it was sold out. So yeah, I missed the DVD filming but I saw them at Roseland earlier that year.

That's cool you saw them headline before, that is the BEST way to experience a Dream Theater show. I hope their next album is just as good as the last two. Cant wait to hear it...
yeah that sux I missed the dvd show, but I can watch/listen to it whenever I want...so its all good! :)

I just recently have been exposed to DT and I will have to say, they are quite addictive. I grew up listening to alot of 70's AOR and it sounds as though that is a big part of their influence. I hear ELP, Pink Floyd, Genesis, a little Yes......they're awesome, you should check them out.
