25 years ago today, The Rolling Stones released "Some Girls". Many thought it was their best work in quite some time. (Since "Exile" in '72) The next day the Dman decide to get his first taste of "ink" and had "The Infamous Tongue" thrown on.
Hey Johnny...."TATTOO YOU!":p

I always loved that one too ZCK....I always liked the up tempo tunes like "Brown Sugar", "Bitch" (both also from Sticky Fingers), "If You Can't Rock Me" and of course "Start Me Up". I think my personal fav however is "Gimmee Shelter". I also like some of there more "obscure" tunes from less popular albums. For instance...."Too Much Blood" & "It Must Be Hell" from Undercover, "One Hit To The Body" & "Winning Ugly" from Dirty Work, "Rock and a Hard Place" from Steel Wheels, "Sparks Will Fly" & "I Go Wild" from Voodoo Lounge and "Out Of Control" & "Too Tight" from Bridges To Babylon. They may say, 40 but I got 100 LICKS!!!:p

My faves are:
Brown Sugar
Paint It Black
As Tears Go By
Let's Spend the Night Together
She's a Rainbow
Jumpin' Jack Flash
She's So Cold
Others, too, but I think that paints a picture of the styles I like.

I've been toying with the idea of getting that to replace my vinyl. It looks like a good Basics album. Yes? No?
Are they remasters or re-recorded?

40 Licks-----I've looked at the liner notes and from what they say, looks like the same remastering people and techniques used for the re-issue campaign(SACD/CD disks). If you have ORIGINAL London label titles for the Stones, hang on to them! With the right equipment, they'll sound better than the CD's.
Some Girls-----remember when that album came out. Went thru 8 copies before I had one where the lead-in groove and first track would play without sticking(no it wasn't my turntable either!). Also, heard the title track UNCUT 3 times on radio before they realized Mick was saying the "F" word. Still can't believe it slipped thru.... Subsequent playings thereafter had Mick sounding like he swallowed his tongue.

The Stones are my favorite band, so my favorite song changes with how I feel. Right now it's "Stray Cat Blues"from "Beggars Banquet". It's the best song you'll never hear on the radio. Real down and dirty nitty gritty.(not to be confused with riddy diddy)

Then of course there are those "Keef" tunes that I'm always partial to. "Happy", "Before They Make Me Run", Little T & A", "All The Way Down, " All About You", "Thru & Thru" and "You Don't Have To Mean It" are just a few of Keith penned and sung tunes.
One other FAV of mine that I failed to mention is "Black and Blues"..."Hand Of Fate".
