ipods: Turn the volume down!!!

Why don't some people realize that the beauty of this listening device is so that you can hear your own musical preference and no one else has to listen to it, if they think your taste is for $hit!

First on the train into work, they old guy next to me had to have his ipod blasting and I guess he had it on shuffle because his taste went from Opera to folk rock and back. He had to be deaf because the volume was up to the max. Then to top it all off he kept tapping his foot. I wanted to take the cord attached to his headphones and strangle him with it.

Then another guy had the same deal going in the elevator on the way up to my floor.

That's when you mouth something to them and when they take the ear buds off and say "Excuse me, what did you say?", you tell them "Oh I wasn't talking to you, I was on my wireless phone". Embarrassed they put the ear buds back in, you say something negative again, hopefully people around you will hear and laugh, this usually pisses them off a little and so they get nervous and lower the volume to see what you are saying. I've done it once to a guy before, he ended up turning it off at some point.

Are you taking prednasone again?

It didn't make me fart, that would have been better if it were the only side effect. What it did was give me diarrhea for 2 weeks, chills, sweats, and the general feeling that my heart was going to explode inside my chest. And I
DID take it as directed and couldn't wait for it to me out of my system. I hope I never have to take that again.

I always wanted to do something to tailgaters that ride my a.s.s. I once heard that someone would roll down his window and take pennies and place them on his roof top. Eventually the air lifts them and heads right into the windshield behind them. They can't prove that you did anything as the penny is long gone by then. Serves them right.

My quote to them is:

I'm on the PHONE!!!

Why do people insist on talking to you when you're on the phone. This happens to me constantly in my office. I spend a lot of time on the phone scheduling people for interviews. Someone always comes up, sees me on the phone (it's a little hard to hide) and starts asking me things. Inevitably, I either place the person on hold or tell the other inconsiderate person "excuse me, but I'm on the phone"
What I really want to say is "are you an ass.hole? can't you see I'm on the phone?" Jesus.

You were on Prednison??? What for? I was on it for a total of about 2 years hen my Crohn's disease was really bad. Eventually I had to have surgery for it, and haven't taken it since. I'm only 38, and myy knees and back are really starting to act up on me more often than ever. I'm wondering if it's the after-effects catching up with me.

I have been rather sick this past winter with a recurring cold and cough that wouldn't go away. The last time it hit me the Dr. put my on prednisone to help me breath. I found the side effects outweighed the benefit. I felt like I would jump out of my skin and that lasted for several weeks after stopping the medication. Sorry to hear of your Crohn's disease, I know how distressing and serious that can be.

My biggest problem is that I was diagnosed with an ulcer about 11 years ago and I should never have taken the prednisone; it tore a new hole in my stomach for sure. I can't take aspirin products either due to the ulcer.

did you fart

I got nailed by someone on a crowded subway last night. The person felt so good about getting away with it they did it twice!! I turned my head and kept my nose in my arm.

Who was it? In my immediate area there was an Asian man, probably late 50's, a young punk rocker girl who was smiling the whole ride, a woman in her thirties who definitely works out, and an older man with a briefcase. I don't think it was the fitness queen because she turned her head away from the pungence in the same way I did. The young punk rocker didn't look like someone that could produce that type of toxin but I guess it's always the ones you least expect.

Since the trains were running very slowly (actually stopped because of traffic ahead), I was going to ask for someone to fess up.

There is something to be said for "attitude is everything" I've had more than my share of shit thrown at me and I always try to keep a positive attitude and instill that in my kids. A prime example of this was when my husband died. My kids were 3, 6 and 9 and they lost their father. Sadly, it forced me to make them realize at a very tender age that things happen, people die (many times too young), it's a part of life and that they weren't the only children to lose a parent and I wasn't the only person to lose a spouse. I didn't want them to go through the "poor me" thing. It just makes you dwell on the down side of life.

Instead I have always tried to make them aware of all the good things around them and what they have going for them. And I've been lucky in a lot of ways and I always tend to look at that rather than the lousy stuff. I have to admit, I do make a mental list many times of the pros and cons of any situation I'm in and 99% of the time the pros outweigh the cons. It puts it into perspective.

yup, you gotta turn that stinking thinking around and look at the good side. Make a list of all the things you're grateful for. Sorta like L2S with the pros and cons. If your bad outweighs your good you better start praying. I've had times in my life when it really ****ed but the other thing is you gotta keep hope that things will get better. If you don't you start getting bent on suicide, pity party to the extreme.

Here's a topic for everyone I'll throw out - do you think people drink because their life is horrible or they can't handle their problems? Or do they just drink to be happy?

Personally, my life is pretty good and I admit I drink a lot because it makes me even happier. I'm not without my share of problems but I'd never drink them away.

Thoughts?

I drank when I was happy, sad , bored and every other mood. It don't matter why you drink. If your drinking is causing you and your family problems it's time to do something about it. I was a happy drunk most of the time but it still caused problems.
I didn't drink everyday and I knew a lot of people who drank more than me but it didn't make me any less of a drunk. There's different levels, and it's up to you what level you want to stop at.

But when is someone considered a drunk and when not? If it doesn't affect them or their family but affects their liver that might be the point. Who knows? I don't drink every day just a couple of times a week but when I drink it's a lot. Not quite binge drinking but sometimes close. According to some experts who classify this I'm a drunk but don't feel like one. Me and my family are fine.

But it's interesting to hear why people drink. Socially or out of necessity or just for pleasure etc.

If you try to drink just one and can't. When you drink that first one do you get a craving for more. But really the main thing is you have to decide that it's a problem and want to stop.
