I've been a huge Eagles fan for quite awhile now, this album is a little more country but it still rocks!!! Here goes....
Please offer your opinion / agreements / disagreements etc.
((long live Democracy))

DISC 1:

No more walks in the woods- great a capella, reminiscent of CSNY…good environmental message

How Long – the “hit single”, very good with Frey and Henley trading verses

Busy Being Fabulous – Honky tonk, Henley singing, its “OK”, not great however, great backing vocals

What Do I Do With My Heart – Frey singing, Henley background, very good ballad

Guilty Of The Crime – Joe Walsh on vocals, “fun” song very reminiscent of “All Night Long”

I Don’t Want To Hear Any More – very sad. Schmit on vocals, very good song (next “single”) ?

Waiting In The Weeds- Not just best song on CD but one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. The premise - “Someone has left you for someone else”. We’ve all “been there”. Henley sure can write!!

No More Cloudy Days – Frey singing. Another very good song. Reminiscent of “You Belong To The City”….Saxophone solo rocks!

Fast Company – Didn’t really care for this one. Good lyrics but Henley sounding like Justin Timberlake ((Simon Cowell would say "too pitchy" LOL)

Do Something – Schmit singing. Starts out sad but gets into a very positive vibe. Similar to “Love will keep us alive”

You Are Not Alone – Frey vocals. Good song.

DISC 2:
Long Road Out Of Eden – their “Kashmir” or “Arabian Knights”, begins with a Middle Eastern quality, then rags against war. Another great Henley written by Henley, Frey and Schmit

I Dreamed There Was No War – 1:37 acoustic guitar instrumental. Very good

Somebody – very good faster paced song with Frey on vocals, lots of Walsh guitar, superb backing vocals, rhythm guitar sounds eerily like Rush “Ghost of a chance”!

Frail Grasp On The Big Picture – jazz/swing feel to it. Henly ranting about life like only Henly can

Last Good Time In Town – Joe Walsh singing, funny in ironic way about how he’s “staying home a lot lately” but still would like to go out and party…but doesn’t…some of us can relate :ermm: LOL

Great guitar…CAN YOU NAME THE ENDING “DRUM LYRIC” very creative Mr Walsh!!!

I Love To Watch A Woman Dance – very country like, it’s “OK” but would think it would better fit on a Glenn Frey solo effort…kinda brought the vibe down from the Walsh tune above.

Business As Usual – I ALMOST chose this is best song of CD. Henley ranting again about business and politics!

Centre Of The Universe – the sleeper of the album! Harmonies: Eagles meet CSNY, meet Beatles “Across The Universe”, meet King’s X!!!

It’s Your World Now – ballad, Frey singing, “Italian” music in background, good message! Could be autobiographical as to Eagles “history” and “passing torch” to other bands???…listen carefully, LOL

well, i've only heard one tune, but may check out more since i read your review. I bet alot of people fall into the category of "i liked the old stuff better". The truth is (for the most part), musicians generally don't write the same sort of stuff as they did in younger days. People mature and change, and alot of fans don't like it. I'm sorry to hear about the anti war tunes. I just don't like it when songwriters start writing about it.

ryank, you'll enjoy the cd....they are not blatant when speaking of war and "the current administration", but check out the lyrics below to
"Business As Usual"

Look at the weather, look at the news
Look at all the people in denial
We're running time, leaving grace
Still we worship at the marketplace
While common sense is goin' out of style
I thought that I would be above it all by now
In some country garden in the shade

But it's business as usual
Day after day
Business as usual
Just grinding away
You try to be righteous
You try to do good
But business as usual
Turns your heart into wood

Monuments to arrogance reach for the sky
Our better nature's buried in the rubble
We got the prettiest White House that money can buy
Sitting up there in that beltway bubble
The main jefe talks about our freedom
But this is what he really means...

Business as usual
How dirty we play
Business as usual
Don't you get in the way
Yeah, make you feel helpless
Make you feel like a clown
Business as usual
Is breakin' me down

Boy, you can't go surfing in Century City
Yeah, them sharks out there are lurking beneath the curb
Yeah, they rob you blind, chew you up, and it ain't pretty
And it's a soul ****in', soul ****in', soul ****in', soul ****in'
Soul ****in', soul ****in' world

Business as usual
Day after day
Business as usual
Feel like walking away
A barrell of monkeys
Or band of renown
Business as usual
Is breakin' me down
Breakin' me down
