RUSH To Take A Permanent Break? - Feb. 26, 2003
RUSH will make their first, and likely only, public appearance of 2003 tomorrow when the legendary rock trio is inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame. The presentation takes place during a closed gala ceremony during the Canadian Music Industry Awards at Toronto's Westin Harbour Castle hotel. Guitarist Alex Lifeson suggested to Karen Bliss of Jam! Music that the band may take a permanent break. "At this stage in our lives, it meant so much for us to get out on the road and play this tour and we felt so good about it, in some ways," he said. "If it were to end now I would feel that there was some kind of closure, that we went through a rough period and did it great one more time. So the door goes two ways at this point. Either we dive into the next project in a year and repeat the whole thing, or we just find that we've had our fill and move on."

Another break??!!?? Damn, they passed N. O. over and before this tour its been 6yrs since we've seen them. Not many great bands left to see(that we ALL can afford) and as talented. Say it isn't so.............

What shitty news that would be. I would like to see them at least once more. (They didn't come anywhere close to here)
They have to be one of the most talented trios ever to grace this earth.

My feeling is that they will do another album. They will take some time off to recharge but they'll be back. They've got way to much talent to stop. They've got fans around the globe now. Their albums are probably selling off the racks over there. They'll end up like The Eagles, The Farewell Tour..........Part 1.

I THINK THIS WAS THE WORST SELLING CD FOR THE BAND AND IT MIGHT BE THAT THAY ARE THINKING ABOUT WHAT THE NEXT STEP SHOULD BE SO ITS NOT A REPEAT OF THE LAST TOUR.

I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I DIDN'T HEAR MUCH AT ALL AS FAR AS PUBLICITY GOES FOR THE LAST ALBUM. THAT COULD BE IN PART TO OUR SHITTY RADIO STATIONS HERE IN NEW ORLEANS.

They said the tour was fine. I read somewhere that they even said this tour was even better than TFE. Not only to create a DVD from it too. Their last tour was suppose to have a DVD for it, with the live album "Different Stages", but that's when Neil's tragedies began, and they never finished it. Even though, the dates seem less and yes, they didn't come to New Orleans, which they love to fish. The tour was measured as a huge success.
What I love about these guys is that every album is never like the last. They re-invent themselves as musicians, and approach each album differently. I actually like this album for it seemed to have come from their soul. Their music had that raw sound, and I think it's a change from their past melodic grooves. The keyboards are good, but just as a comparison, Felix is better as a bass player, than a keyboard player. Nothing can replace the heavy tones of a deep bass. Like Zebra, they need to step away from the keys, and become the trio that started it all.
All in all, Rush will come back with at least 1 or 2 more albums.
