THE BEATLES' SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND TO BE PERFORMED LIVE BY GLEN BURTNIK & FRIENDS:

New Brunswick, NJ (July 10, 2007) - Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band release, Glen Burtnik & Friends will be recreating the classic album in its entirety—note for note—based on the original Beatles recording (never performed “live” by the Beatles themselves). This spectacular performance will take place one night only: Friday, August 17 at the State Theatre in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Organizing a production of this caliber is something Burtnik does NOT take lightly, and this particular show is very close to his heart. “In 1967, my big brother sat me down to play me the brand new Beatles record, signifying this was an 'important' event,“ recalls Burtnik. “The album, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band changed my life, and basically became the soundtrack of the 'Summer Of Love,' if not the entire 1960s, the era from which came I. From that day on, I've worn long multi-colored hair, and screamingly bright patterns. I still haven't quite gotten over hearing that recording for the first time. Here it is, forty years later, and I am assembling a number of talented, dedicated musicians to help me perform the songs of this classic album, note for note, song by song. It's actually one of my life's ambitions.”

Performing alongside Burtnik will be the equivalent of a small nation's population of musicians including Steve Holley on drums (Paul McCartney's 'Wings'), Drew & John (from 'Liverpool'), Erin Hill on harp, a pair of tabla players, a string section, a horn section, and a clarinet trio, as well as a live orchestral recreation of the “A Day In The Life” climax. Other Sgt. Pepper's song highlights include “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” “Fixing a Hole,” and “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!.”

Also on the bill, The Smithereens will perform their recent release, Meet The Smithereens!, an homage to the Beatles U.S. debut album. Songs include “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” “All I've Got to Do,” “All My Loving,” and “Hold Me Tight.”

Would love to go but financially wont be to many more concerts this summer. Already went to Rush, and also spent $90 for nosebleed seat for the Police...
Hopefully Burtnick will do this again. Great guy. I met him working out at Bally's. Very humble, for a rock star!

I seen that over a month ago. Of course one of the several jersey theatre venues I keep on top of. But this along with the band 'Rain' I never really considered. Other shows like Pink Floyd experience and such too.

Was never really much on these remake produictions. Seen Randy with Orchestra do Led Zeppelin because, well it was Randy. Now you strike my interest a bit. But like Greg said, can only afford so many shows.
Just seen ASIA there a couple weeks back. Velvet Revolver and C&N shows coming up.
Plus vacation next week at a Pocono resort. Cha Ching Cha Ching. But Monday I'm gonna race a authentic NASCAR on Pocono speedway. My wife says, you have to stay behind the head car. He's a professional and will let you go faster according to your ability. Well I'll say one thing, he's too slow I'm passing him!

I'm about an hour away. Might consider it. Then again, Sorry, I already got tiks for Velvet Revolver at PNC that day.

The more I read on it the better it sounds. Man! Why do the good shows have to come on the same days? I had top pass on Zebra at BB's because ASIA was playing that same Thyursday a couple weeks ago.

Actually Dukester New Brunswick is pretty much a small city. A scaled down New York. No turnpike smells and alot cleaner then NYC. Some of the best restaurants in Jersey reside there too. Lotsa ethnic foods. But then as with any city, there are the outskirts where the seedier population lives. Changed alot since I went to college at neighboring Rutgers some 25 years ago.

I just said that cause of the whole Live Earth controversy!!! I hear ya when you talk about seedy neighborhoods - The Ronkonkoma I live in now is definitely NOT the Ronkonkoma that I grew up in :kwasny:

Thats why I live up in the boonies. Pitfalls. During Summer sometimes the City moves in. Like the water slide park about 2-3 miles from my house. Last time I was there I felt like Minority. I'm like, go home you buncha Bennies! But if you have a boat you can get away on the lakes. But I have fun. Last time I was behind the slide line with a bunch speaking spanish in front of me. Someone farted because this nasty waft of a.ss came floating by. I held my nose and yelled out, 'Oh man, who had th rice n beans for dinner last night!'. My brother almost fell to the ground laughing after I said that.

And those 2 hour commutes to and fro work if I want to work near the city and make bigger $.
