Well, it can now be said "yesterday"!
Yup, I met Gene at the airport today while working. I was tipped off by a friend in another department that he was in the food court of the concourse.
Sure enough, there he was, sitting down with a couple of young looking dudes with these hard-shelled cases (maybe the film crew?). Of course, I wasn't gonna bother him then so I waited by the court entrance thinking he's got to come out sooner or later. Anyway, next thing I see he's at the Manchu Wok so I go and stick my hand out and introduce myself.
Gene was very kind and polite as we shot the bull for about four minutes or so. He seemed weary either from flying or meeting the 512th fan of the day. There we're lots of "looky-loos" in the general area peeking and pointing the whole time. Kind of weird to deal with if you ask me.
One humorous exchange (I think) was after we initially shook hands I just casually asked him if he was just passing through and where he was off to, he replied, "I can't tell you that...we just met." as he gave me a smirk. I told him, "No, no, not like that. Just wanted to know if there was a public engagement I missed in town." Gene said, "Oh, no nothing like that."
