Thanks Ziggy. I'll be at the Arena Bowl even though our Voodoo won't. We had season tickets this year and enjoyed most of the games. But Arena Bowl will still be fun. Next year Voodoo.

Weather reports dont look too good so far.
On the radio today they said ist band starts @ 7pm ( i think Rebirth brass band)
and STYX should start about 8:30pm. You think because of possible rain, they would have had in the superdome or the convention center?
i plan on going but Hopefully it doesnt get rained out.

AWESOME show from STYX !!!

Some Zebra fans were in the house -
We saw Bayougirl & Andy, Jeff2 & Sandy and Macca & I were
with Zuzu and Wild4Zebra... was anyone else there???

The show was great, but a bit short - they played about
1 hour/20 minutes. Had a great spot near the stage.

There were a few too many drunken, falling down idiots -
falling on us, for my taste. All in all - a good show!

GREAT show, BIG crowd, and NO rain! Yep, the idiots were all over the place, and a BIG BUNCH near us. Drunks, hop-heads....what a bunch!

Overall, a great evening. Had a nice breeze the whole night, which kept things from being unbearable weather wise. The band was in top form, and kicked A$$. Anyone still holding out for the DeYoung era Styx, it will NEVER happen. This bunch is having too much fun playing rock and roll. Smaller venues(like everyone else is doing!), and they are touring virtually non-stop year round. Can't wait for the next show.

Yes, we had a wonderful night. Angie, we saw Linda and she says to tell you hello. We had about 14 people with our group by the barricade along the river. There was a wedding right beside us on the riverboat while Styx was playing then the boat took off and Styx played Come Sail Away when they came back. NICE MEMORIES for the bride & groom for sure. Then yesterday we went to the XXI Arena Bowl and watched San Jose Sabercats tear up the Columbus Destroyers. So all in all a WONDERFUL weekend. Didn't get rained on either.

Now it's back to reality, which is a good thing sometimes. Get's me excited for the next adventure.

If you enjoy the Dennis stuff, just go see Dennis. He is constantly playing, especially in the North East. He plays with Glen Burtnik, who was with Styx for quite a while in 2 different version of the band (and a friend of mine). I saw them recently at BB Kings and it was a great show.

JERSEY SUMMER BEATLES BASH!

with Glen Burtnik & Friends
and the Smithereens

Friday, August 17, 2007 at 8:00 PM

State Theatre
15 Livingston Avenue
New Brunswick, NJ 08901
Box office phone: 732-246-SHOW (7469)

Tickets: $45 and $35

Celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’s release, Glen Burtnik & Friends will be recreating the classic album in its entirety—note for note—based on the original Beatles recording (never performed “live” by the Beatles themselves). Sgt. Pepper’s song highlights include “Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,” “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds,” “Fixing a Hole,” and “Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite!”. Performing alongside Burtnik will be Wings alumnus Steve Holly on drums (formerly of Paul McCartney’s band) and members of renown Beatle impersonator band Liverpool (most recognized as house band for the nationally acclaimed “Fest For Beatles Fans” formerly “Beatlefest”), as well as a surprise cast of other instrumentalists, singers, and musicians.

Also on the bill, The Smithereens will perform the Meet The Beatles. Song highlights include “I Want to Hold Your Hand,” “I Saw Her Standing There,” “All I've Got to Do,” “All My Loving,” and “Hold Me Tight”.

...and no, I will not be able to record the show in Atlanta.

DJDale...any possible chance you may be able to get some footage???

I saw Styx a couple weeks ago at Mohegan Sun with Def Leppard. Foreigner wasn't there....so i don't know if they're only playing along on select dates (Foreigner is playing two dates in CT....tomorrow night in Danbry, and Sunday night at Foxwoods). I don't know how that will work out for your show. But that was only my second time seeing Styx. Still they've been totally amazing each time. They're original bassist John Ponazzo is also palying a few songs with them, promoting his new book. I'd say if you're longing for the old incarnation of Styx, you're really not going to miss it if you see this line-up. Dennis' replacement is basically his clone. And, they all just have a total blast onstage the whole time. And, they rock!!! Def Leppard was really good, but not quite what they used to be. Their voices are starting to strain, and it shows in Joe's lead, and also in the harmonies from the band. Musically, they're still in top form. Also, they're doing quite a bit of High N Dry material, which Steve played most of the leads for. That means Vivian is playing ALOT more lead than the last time I saw him, where I think he only played 2 solos. I'd have loved to see Foreigner, as I've always loved Hurricane, but I'm willing to bet, especially with this lineup, that they rock hard and sound awesome.

Don,

I'll be hanging out with Glen all weekend this weekend at Beatlefest in Chicago (Yes I know, The Fest For Beatles Fans). He plays Paul in the house band (Liverpool) these days. I do their webcast. I'll see if I can get some tapes from the shows. If not at a bare minimum I am sure I will be getting tons of photos, as my friend Robert is always photographing Glenn's shows.

The Smithereens versions of Beatles songs are interesting - I saw them back in March, but I really like their originals best. I recorded the show they did onto DVD for DiNizio. EVen going back and watchng it now I still like their originals best.

I'm kind of tempted to see the show on the 17th and stay over in NJ since I have to pick up my son from camp the next day in NJ anyway.

Great show last night at the Hard Rock - Biloxi. Short show -
kind of typical for Casino shows these days
STYX opened and played only 9 songs...
REO followed. STYX is my favorite so I enjoyed them more.
REO did a good show, too, though.

STYX set list:
_____________

Blue Collar Man
Grand Illusion
Lorelei
Too Much Time On My Hands
I Am The Walrus
Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)
Miss America
Come Sail Away
- - encore - -
Renegade

(I didn't do the set list for REO...having gone primarily to see STYX
and not being as familiar with REO song titles, etc.)

Had a great spot close to the Tommy side of the stage.
Took a lot of photos.
Oh, I did score a guitar pick from J.Y!
I wish it would have been from Tommy Shaw,
but I will cherish this one from J.Y.

The show was NOT a sell out. Many empty seats left.
The show was good....many of the songs sounded great
accompanied by a 50 piece orchestra...but it did NOT
rock like a STYX show! Dennis didn't play a lot of
keyboard....only sparse bits of songs....
and he had a guest vocalist do the Hunchback songs.
I did enjoy the show - heard several Dennis-written Styx songs
that Styx hasn't performed in a long while ...

Dennis' show is a family venture - His wife Suzanne is one of
the backup vocalists....and he announced that their son Matthew
was doing the lighting... daughter Carrie Ann is in charge of
publicity.

Coincidentally - his two guitar players were named Tommy & James...
Tommy & James - in name only - they were not nearly the seasoned
guitarists that Tommy Shaw & James "J.Y." Young are!

all in all - an enjoyable evening...

A nice show(first time seeing DDY since 1997) and in turn, answered a LOT of questions. His voice is still good, but showing its age. Cut off a lot of vocals, and sadly, not really involved in being a keyboardist full time. It seems he's into a comfort zone of doing broadway-style songs with a few rockers thrown in to change pace. Don't know if this is how the whole tour goes with 50 piece orchestras, but the show had no sustained energy and flow. Too much BS between songs and sadly, most of the "jokes" and comments flew over the heads of the majority of the audience.

Dennis is good at doing what he is doing now. If he were to rejoin STYX(don't count on it!), his voice would be shredded within 3 shows at the pace the current band is executing. STYX wants to rock, Dennis wants to do sporadic shows with lots of fluff and production.

Well said Macca...the show was good. I started to get bored with all the classical crap. Dennis is showing his age..that's for sure. We had a great time. And guess what ziggy & macca....we did get in to see Gino on Saturday! It's a long story but...we were able to find tickets. And guess who we met up with? The President and first lady...Nikki & Carl! It was good to see them again! We had a wonderful weekend being with H2H....she was the hostess with the mostest. Looking forward to Dec. 7-9 weekend. We will see you guys then! Rock on!
