Seems like we have a ton of fans on this board for both bands. So, what's your choice?

Well Lets See Here, Two Great Bands, However!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What Zeppelin Did Was Unbelievably Incredible, Why???
#1 They Were Togethor For Only 10 Years
#2 Their Music Covers Such A Wide Range, From The Hardest Of Rock, To A Metal Sound, The Blues, Indian, Arabic, Country, The Softest Acoustic, Some Just Plain Pop, They Did It All.
I Can Put 5 Zepp. Tunes On A Cd And To The Average "radio Listener" They Would Think It Is 5 Different Groups, Their Diversity Is What Made Them The Greatest Of All Time In My Opinion.

Now To Rush
A Great Band, Excellent Musicians, One Of My Faves No Doubt.
But When You Hear A Rush Tune You Know It Is Rush, They Do Have A Little Diversity, Subdivisions Etc. Etc.

In My Opinion No Band Will Ever Do What Zeppelin Did.

Also Zepp. Would Never Call Themselves Zepp Again After Bonzo's Death, Even If They (page, Plant) Reunite With Jpj, And Jason On Drums They Will Not Sell Out And Call Themselves Zepp. Rush Is Planning To Tour Without Lifeson, And That To Me Is Just Plain Money Hungry Ignorant.

That's funny...there doesn't seem to be any word on Lifeson not touring, no matter where else I've looked. there was a lame YouTube post linked to here joking about Lifeson's non-touring, but so far, nothing suggests Lifeson won't be along for the ride.

IMHO: Those two Florida cops and the Florida judge who acquitted them all ****. IMHO, mind you...

Huh?

Alex Lifeson is touring with them! I just heard an interview with him talking about the tour. I have not idea where that came from. It is all 3 of them or nothing. That is why the long gap while waiting for Neil to recover from the deaths of his wife and daughter.

I also don't get the point about diversity. Rush has gone though so many phases that some Rush fans only care for certain periods. Tell me there is no diversity in comparing Working Man to Hemispheres to Moving Pictures to Grace Under Pressure to Vapor Trails. In fact, I am a huge Rush fan but it took me a while before I could appreciate Signals and Grace Under Pressure.

Led Zep is Led Zep. I see some diversity in their music but really it all has the same feel to it. I'm sorry but I don't get your point at all.

My Info Was Obviously Wrong, I Heard That He Was Not Touring On A Local Radio Station, I Stand Corrected And Am Very Happy That He Is!!!!!!

Back To Rush/zepp. Rush Does Have Some Diversity As I Mentioned But No Where Near What Zepp. Did In My Opinion. Rush Has Been Togethor For What 30 Years??? Zepp. Did Their Thing In Only 10???
Hello!!!!!!!!!!

Rush's Last Album ****ed Period. Don't Take It Personal But It ****ed.................

Once Again Zepp Is Not The Second Ranked Group All Time In Album Sales For Nothing.

Ok Oursooooo, I'll bite. Although I think you have a good point about what Zep did in only 10 years, you could also make that point about Rush if you only counted their first 10 years of work. The first Rush album came out in 1974, so 10 years would take you through to Grace Under Pressure. In that t ime period they put out the early albums (Rush, Fly By Night, Caress of Steel), did the masterpieces (2112, A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres), did the more popular Permanent Waves and Moving Pictures, and then changed styles at their height of popularity and did Signals and then again with Grace Under Pressure. They also did 2 great live albums during that period that have completely different feels to them). They did about an album a year through that period and had many different styles. Yes, it always sounded like Rush, but it kind of sounded like a different Rush as the albums progressed.

As far as Rush always sounding like Rush, I think that is actually what makes them special. NOBODY sounds anything like them. NO ONE has really tried to copy them. They can't. The style is too unique. Many other bands have either tried to copy Zep or at least have a somewhat similar sound. Zebra has a bit of a Zep sound. So does Fastway and Kingdome Come two name two others. Heck, even the first Rush album had a bit of a Zep sound. I think that is what makes Led Zep great. They had a great sound that many other bandds wanted to sound like. That says a lot about them (and yes I give Zep a ton of respect) but Rush has developed a sound like no one else.

Oh, and you mentioned that you thought Rush's last album ****ed. You surely aren't talking about their last album (Snakes and Arrows) that came out 3 days ago. It is awesome!

Rush Is Def. One Of My Faves And The Points You Make I Have To Agree With. Although I Will Say That It Took Geddy About 10 Years To Learn How To Sing And Not Scream. Lol.
In The Early, mid Eighties There Was A Rock Magazine That Had An Article About Zebra, The Title Was "zebra Possibly The Next Zepp. Or Rush"""??? Anyone Remember Seeing That. Rush And Zepp Are Randy's Influences I Know From Talking With Randy, And Of Course The Beatles.

Zepp. Is Such An Influence On So Many Musicians, Even Todays Youngsters, I Guess Thats Why They Were "copied" By So Many.

The Rush Album I'm Talking About Was "vapor Trails" I Really Thought It Was Terrible. I'll Have To Check Out This New One.

I actually own all the releases from both these bands, plus most of the members' solo works. Zeppelin deserves their reputation as one of the best of all time, but I actually choose Rush just based on my preferences. This could be because Zep had stopped recording when I was a teenager and Rush was still in their prime. I think Rush deserves more recognition than they've gotten. They have twenty-something Gold records and have maintained their appeal to generations of fans. They also ROCK in concert - I've seen them 7 times and have tix for the current tour. Their musicianship can be put up against any band.
