I decided to do my wellness walk around Manhattan today. I love to walk and I have been dying for the weather to warm up. I walked for a half-hour. The people in my office thought I was nuts. I have noticed that most of them eat crap and are all over weight and I do NOT want to fall into that habit. I bring my lunch every day, the rest of them do take out or they bring in the most unhealthy stuff.

If anyone who works in Manhattan wants to join me, just let me know. Great way to relieve stress and give yourself a whole new perspective when you return from lunch.

Good for you Linda! I started walking around the neighborhood again. I feel so much better afterwards. I sleep better, my mind is clearer, I guess the doctors are right...just 20-30 minutes a day will do a body good. Next...I'm going to start working out with weights. :weight_lift2:

GREAT inspirational email. I am starting to do the same on my lunch hour but unfortunately dont work near Manhattan. I have the S.A.D. in the winter and walking really helps!!!

Walking really is a great form of exercise. You don't need any special equipment to do it, well... except for the 2 legs God gave you. I've noticed that some of my co-workers are feeling my influence. Today, one of them told me she wants to start walking with me. They've also been asking me what I eat when I go home as they watch what I eat at work.
Although I eat relatively healthy, I love ice cream and can tend to over do it. So I have a few winter lbs. to get shed.

Bryant Park was packed as it was a more beautiful day today than we experienced yesterday!

for optimal health one needs to walk 30 minutes EVERYDAY -snow sleet sunshine-EVERYDAY and do weight resistance 30 minutes a week
10 min 3x a week? that'll do it and weights not necessary - use
your own body weight!
you'd be surprised if stuck to how good you'll look/feel!

Before I got promoted 11 years ago, I had the greatest job. I was a advertising salesperson in NYC. Just imagine, your job was to met with all the advertising agencies and be out of the office all day. Naturally, I would walk to almost all places instead of taking the subway or cab. Just seeing all the natural wonders of the greatest city in the world. Nowadays, I don't get out as often but when I do, I still try to walk as much as possible.

Good for you, Linda. Maybe we can meet on the street one day.

Sounds like a plan. I do love to walk. I heard it may snow on Friday, I really hope that doesn't happen. I am done with that weather and have been spoiled by the last 2 days.

I went from 230 lbs to 170 in one year! By walking a mile a day. Have stayed at 170 for over 10 years. WOOO HOOOO but yeah I'm an ice cream FANATIC. Thank God for the walking and lifting weights!

Well, I didn't walk to Penn, I slid to Penn. All 5 blocks to Penn. Then sat on the train for 2 1/2 hours. The CFO in my office made me ride with him. He got stuck on the train 2 weeks ago when someone jumped in front of the train at Bethpage. Since we both go to Ronkonkoma, he wanted to make sure he had someone with him if there was LIRR problems. Sure enough the train in front of us broke down and caused quite a delay.

Our boss was kind enough to buy all of us lunch today so we didn't have to go out and let us leave an hour early.

Not too nice today. It seemed to be colder than they were reporting. I still walked at lunch time.

I was in Duane Reade today to buy some sudafed, along with the nice weather comes my cronic sinus headache.

However, I do NOT like Peeps, never have. Not crazy about jelly beans either.

Last three days here have been fabulous! Went on my walk today at lunch and if you want to get noticed, just walk around in Manhattan on a (slightly) windy day in a skirt! I really must learn to wear underwear...

I've been seeing toes in NYC for a while now. They don't wait for the warm weather for anything in Manhattan.

And that's just the men I'm talkin' about. I saw a guy the other day wearing heels that were to die for!!!
