I watched it and recorded it. Basically Velvet Revolver did a terrible job with Ain't Talking About Love and ended it by trying to play Poundcake, but Paul Schaffer and the CBS Orchestra came out with Sammy and Michael and they played Why Can't This Be Love. It wasn't too shabby pefromance, but Sammy and Michael showed class and wished Eddie a speedy recovery. Old video interviews with the members of the band before CR came out to induct them. Michael even thanked Gary for his small part in their history.

Actually VR tried to perform "Runaround"...but it was hard to tell what the heck was going on. Scott W. was gyrating like he was Mick Jagger during "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love". VR's induction speech was pretty lame and pathetic. And Slash's guitar work...thought he was better than that. I could probably think of a dozen guitarists who could "imitate" Eddie's sound better than Slash. Just watch and listen to the reaction of the crowd after VR's "performance". Almost silence...no applause. I think Paul Shaffer and his bandmates threw together something, unrehearsed, to try to involve Sammy and Michael...not the best, but at least we had something. Really missed Dave not being there.
Eddie Vedder's speech for R.E.M., though long (but that's Eddie for you...), was very heartfelt and well done. Nice performance on "Man on the Moon" as well. I would expect Mr. Vedder and Pearl Jam to be inducted in about 10 years. "Gardening at Night" was very cool - R.E.M.'s signature sound.

Thanks folks!!! Yes I heard "Why cant this be love" from last night on the radio this morning, and the vocals sounded good but the guitar was crappy. Agreed in thinking Slash is better than that!

Not one of your better HOF shows ----- what the @#@$@# is "Flash" doing in the Rock Hall Of Fame!?!? VH - the class of the group showed up, the a$$holes stayed away. I'm hoping Sammy WILL go out in October and hopefully come here with Mike to play. He was supposed to be with Sammy the last time, but "legal" obstacles prevented that. REM, glad to see they're in. Patti Smith looks more fried than ever, surprised she's even alive. The "jam" could have been better. Wonder who's going in next year.....Run DMC???? JEESH!
